Audio Playback Issue Cinavia removal not working?

    Hello All,

I have a couple of blu-ray players here; 2013 and 2015 vintage. I've been backing up my 3D movies as I purchase them (none recently so I have no log files). And they've been playing without issues.

I'm running 9.3.2.1, and have only trial Cinavia Removal HD.

One movie for example, is Passengers 3D. Plays fine on both my players, and I know the original disk is Cinavia Protected. Given Cinavia was mandatory in all players manufactured after 2012 I assumed the Cinavia issues were dealt with.

I visited my brother who is a two hour drive from my place and took a couple of 3D movies to watch, only to find they both refused to play because of Cinavia protection.

Why do the movies play on post-Cinavia-implementation players (A Sony and a Panasonic)?

My brothers player is a Samsung purchased in mid 2016.

I pretty sure that I've never seen DVDFab complain of Cinavia on my original discs (using either my Pioneer, LiteOn or LG BD-RW drives).

I have Cinavia ticked in the options, but it appears it's not being removed.

I considered purchasing the Cinavia Blu-ray removal, but at $200 AUD (That's equivelant to 50% of my weekly income or 8 weeks of gas to drive around), so I'd want to be pretty darn sure it was going to work. And at $8 per 50gb disk, I'm not feeling inclined to a drawn out trial and error process simply creating expensive frisbees.

Is there are way to know if DVDFab is dealing with the Cinavia, other than suck it and see?

Why might the discs play fine on my players, but not on his?

As an aside, should he always make sure his player is disconnected from the internet (Mine are connected and running the latest firmware).

Thoughts? Ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If your using the trial version of the cinavia removal program ,
I believe that your limited to one title - http://forum.dvdfab.cn/showthread.php?t=30584
Does your brothers bluray player have the latest firmware update ? ?

Please try version 10 as cinavia removal in version 9 is very limited version 10 has the latest updates that should help remove current protections the trial only lets you remove one title.

Their is a list you can check on what new disks and versions are already done for blu rays and another list for dvds they just started with them so the dvd list is smaller right now.https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forumdisplay.php?f=75

On the blu ray players yours seem to not see Cinavia so your lucky maybe they were really made before the model year they came out and got away with not having Cinavia detection.Even with your brothers blu ray player you may get around a effected machine by putting the movie on a USB stick drive and playing it through the USB port even a USB hard drive may work this way use a powered hard drive if your going to try it you must have USB inputs on the blu ray player to do so..To play in 3d your brother also needs a 3d blu ray player most can play back in 2d though assuming your copying full 3d as you say your using 50 gig blanks..Hopes this helps you.
P.S. If your brothers machine is already effected with Cinavia then he can leave it hooked up to the internet as its effected in hardware not software.Have you tried side by side 3d the files are much smaller and retains the pop off screen effects?

        @Yanta:

First off, no idea why your two Blu-ray players are not complaining about Cinavia, especially the Sony player, since Sony is the developer of Cinavia.

Secondly, Cinavia removal does not remove Cinavia from a backup. Cinavia removal is used to create a movie only copy. Read the FAQs about Cinavia removal with DVDFab.

As pointed out by October262, with the trial, only one Blu-ray disc can have the Cinavia removed. In other words, none of your discs will have Cinavia removed until you purchase the option. And even then you cannot make complete backup copies with Cinavia removed.

AIUI, Cinavia detection not only involves firmware, but hardware. That means, even if a Pre-Feb/2012 player were to get an update, Cinavia detection could not be added because of the missing hardware piece.

          Thanks for your quick replies.

To respond to all in one..

The Sony has no date that I can see on it, but I recall purchasing it in November 2013. The Panasonic DMP-BDT370 was manufactured in Jun 2015.

My brothers player is on the latest firmware.. we did that last night. It is also a 3D player and it has a USB port on it. It's connected to a Yamaha receiver

We use PotPlayer on the PCs, and it is supposed to support 3D play back (and we've tried all the options), but we've never been able to get it to work, either on a SBS, OU or via an optical disk. We used to use VLC but it was a nightmare, crashing, stuttering, many other playback issues. Stopped using it as of v2.1.5

His TV is a LG 50LA6230 (passive 3D); also on the latest firmware.

I've tried to avoid upgrading to DVDFab 10, as the UI is quite unpleasant. Guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet

I never buy DVDs any more, only Blu-ray. Generally when they get to the bargain bin stage, though I do buy a few recent movies that I saw in the cinema that I really liked.

          I always do 1:1 clone/duplicate. Don't shrink, don't drop anything.

So, I can only deal with the Cinavia if I do a "main movie only" back up? Darn!

As there has never been any indication that the trial Cinavia removal HD has ever done anything I don't know if the trial has been used.. I guess I should assume it has..

Well, guess it's time to start saving the $$. $200 AUD is extremely expensive for one module (Given the lifetime license for all other modules I purchased was $320 AUD after discounts).

I have read the FAQs but perhaps old age is catching up with me and I just didn't understand it. I'll go back and read again.

          thanks

            Yanta,
I suspect the 2013 player was made before the deadline and may be ignoring the Cinavia. There were quite a few standalones made about that time that had the internal hardware but not the firmware for seeing the watermark, the thought being that they could be updated later (and many were). If this is what you have, count yourself lucky to have one and don't ever connect it to the web for safety's sake. Many vendors were still selling old stock (no Cinavia) as late as June 2013 here in the states, maybe you got one of those.

You only get to use one title in the trial version of Removal and it must be within 30 days of first use. I strongly suggest you bite the bullet and learn to love v10, it has many new features and improvements. The repair files are very time consuming to produce and hence the module is rather expensive. But if it saves you having to buy 2 or 3 replacement discs due to damages, you've paid for it.

Well, that explains it. Most likely was not used for months after DVDFab was installed.

There are two things in life I will NEVER learn to love. Brussel Sprouts is one, DVDFab 10 is the other. I really struggle visually with the interface. There is no skin available that is kind on tired old eyes. Colors are all over the place, and layout makes little to no sense. But.. I don't want to turn this into a v10 bashing

I'm not sure I follow your math. At $8 per disc I'd have to burn 25 discs to recover the cost. At 5 per year that's 5 years... I don't get to pay off the DVDFab module license over 5 years, I have to purchase up front. For 2D movies I generally use BD25, which cost me 60 cents each, unless it's a movie I really like and want it on a BD50.

OK, so the bottom line is... Is it OK for me to download a trial of the latest DVDFAB 10, install on my test PC (not the one I have my purchased DVDFAB on), and see if the trial will detect the Cinavia?

Oh, and PS... The FAQs are empty regarding Cinavia. I did manage to find a video on Youtube, but just to clarify... The ONLY way to do Cinavia removal with DVDFab is using the Main Movie option in the Copy module... Right?

              Thanks

Ok, So I installed DVDFab 10.0.40 on a test-PC and loaded the ISO backup of my passengers disc..

                      The log files says....
0m 42.21s: Cinavia: no cinavia repair data.

I was reading a review on another site and it said that when the movie was opened it doesn't give any indication that there is Cinavia, which is the same symptom I saw.

What is also interesting is the date/time stamp in the log file was wrong. The actual time I did the conversion was 13:38. I wasn't even home at 18:14.

                      Full Log..

                          Hi Yanta;

(Ok, So I installed DVDFab 10.0.40 on a test-PC and loaded the ISO backup of my passengers disc..)

For Cinavia repair the disk must be repaired by Fab first. You have the 3D version.

The cloned iso must also retain the copy protection when you make a clone check that little box to keep it.Only a clone with copy protection or a store brought can be used.

Ok, so that's my mistake. When I cloned the original disk I thought I was removing all protections, including Cinavia, but didn't. There's no point going and getting my original disk from the secure storage, as it's not even supported yet.

Seems my brother's best approach is to try and find another player that doesn't [yet] detect Cinavia, if such a box exists. Or buy his own disks instead of asking me to bring some over when I visit him.

You could just bring one of your 2 non effected 3d blu ray players over to your bro's house let him use one you take his then you both have 1 that can play infected disks after all do you really need two that can work with infected disks?
Brotherly love and a solution just tell him if something happens to your non effected 3d machine he will have to trade the one you give him back so you won't be left in the cold. This solves all the problems at once.
