Hi The Tango, Please Open Fab click the Click the Green √ at top right corner of the DVDFab screen, and open Common Settings >General > Preview, select "Show preview window automatically". Then the preview form will display after you insert a source. Wish it helps. terry5

THat helps for me, but it still stops after a few plays, sometimes 10, other times 2. The only way for me to get it back is to restart the software.

Tell us which video/audio decoders you have selected on the Preview page in Common Settings (also whether you have Internal or DirectShow selected). It will not open without a Source present and open.

What is your OS? Win XP Pro Which video/audio decoders you have selected Internal DirectShow - DVDFab Video Decoder ( have tried some of the others listed but no change). Have check & unchecked the play auto - no change. Hard to to a customized ISO unless you can see the preview TIA

Of course - Now I talking about the preview window on the lower left.

Am I the only one without Preview window?

If there is no preview window at all, check to see if the bar just below where the window should be got pressed somehow. If so and the arrow is pointing up there will be no window at all.

There is a bar with an up arrow, which will change color shade when pressed. But the collapsed window does NOT open.

Any fix for the "Preview" not working?

Yeah, mine's constantly crashing now when I try to view any previews on 8.1.1.6 version. At least using 8.1.1.5 I was able to see some preview. For some reason everything comes out just green from getgo on 8.1.1.6 and when I stop and try to view some other chapter's preview, it crashes. This happened 4 times already today trying to view 3 different DVDs. It only crashed 4 times because I just decided to burn full disc instead of trying to remove the previews that I don't want on a burnt disc. I'm just hoping this will get fixed in the future version.

Anyone using XP will be running DX-9. DX-10 or DX-11 will not run on XP. I know that a hacked version of DX-10 for XP exist but not from MSoft.

So to answer - DX-9

The Tango, I don't know if this will help you, but you can go HERE to get all the latest runtime components for DirectX 9.0c updates from MS. Even if it doesn't help it won't hurt, I did it on my XP laptop.

Beta 8 1 1 7 - Still no joy - Preview window won't come up. Yes I changed the settings back & forth trying Internal / Direct / Ect.

The Directshow option is the old preview engine, if it worked before it should work now with that setting.

Here is what I have found with v8.1.1.7 Beta: The DirectShow selection opens the Preview GUI but does not play and in fact often (but not always) results in a crash. The Internal setting works OK, but still has choppy audio. This is on Win7 Pro (64-bit). This is with Preview automatic start disabled in Common Settings. I will pass it on to the QA Team to make sure they find the thread.

I think this is going to be one of those system configuration things guys, DirectShow works a treat on both my XP SP3 laptop and my W7x64 desktop. A/V are both smooth as silk. Version 8.1.1.7b

The preview function on 8117 Beta won't play nice at all on my desktop, Win7 Pro 64-bit.

Both DirectShow and Internal crash Fab each and every time.
Disabling the autoplay function simply delays the inevitable crash.

I should have added that previous versions did not cause any major problems for me
and actually now that I think about it, hardly any minor problems

[SIZE=3]It may have something to do with my OCD behavior of a clean uninstall before each new version. I scrub the registry with CCleaner, usually about three times, to rid it of all references to DVDFab and I even clean the Prefetch folder of Fab files. I realize it is probably not necessary, but things go pretty smoothly for me. [/SIZE]
