Star Wars The Complete Saga and Forced Subtitles (again)

the help that I found in this thread just isn't working for me :( I've been trying since this morning to get just 1 good rip with just the forced english subtitles from any of the movies and I just gave up at 1130 pm. so frustrating.

I've tried every title and every stream on each of the original trilogy movies and not hit on the right combination yet. I'm pretty sure my prequel rips are a fail too, after ripping them all I realized the error on the return of the jedi and have been reripping the original series for the last 6 hours. the help here and other places online suggest checking Use Forced Only and some people say it's in the streams and not to check it. No where with a clear concise answer. So... sorry for yet another thread on this matter. I'm down to asking for a little help or just giving up on ever having these movies ripped correctly :(

If someone could shed some light on this I'd be very grateful!

Step 1: Rip the disk to your hard disk
Step 2: Download and install "Subtitle Edit" from the Internet (FREEBIE)
Step 3: Open your rip subtitles in "Subtitle Edit"
Step 4: Inspect subs to see what the idiot studios have done and go from there.

idiot studios! I can definitely agree with that! LOL I've ripped my whole library successfully and never seen anything like this.

I've downloaded Subtitle Edit and poked around at it and tried to figure out what I should be looking for... :o I really appreciate the help but not exactly sure how I translate the information I see into choosing the correct combination in Fab so I can choose the right streams, weather or not I should be using the Only Forced Subs checkbox and what title I should be using. I figure it won't tell me ALL of what I just mentioned, but I'm still a bit confused.

What I generally do is inspect each sub stream and turn the forced on and off to see whether there are any forced subs in that stream.

If I can find no forced subs, I then go looking for a stream that contains only the subs that I want. This is the usual scenario when Fab can't find forced subs.

If all that fails, I go to opensubtitles.org, download a SRT subtitle and inspect it with a Subtitle Edit, and if correct, mux it into the Fab produced MKV withMKVToolnix.

thanks again! you set me off on the right foot. ended up giving up on the sub and idx files and found srt forced subs on the site you mentioned (and a couple others) and I used MKVMerge to embed them. Now my whole series is ripped properly! :D at last! lol

I don't know why but I have the Star Wars The Complete Saga, region 1 Bluray Box Set and I use a regged Zoomplayer Max, set to automatically detect and play all forced subs. has taken a lot of work getting it set up to work with everything and no fiddling. But something about these discs, just would not display for nothing.

On at least one of these discs, the few forced subs that exist are inside one of the odd sub streams, like the one that identifies the speakers of one of the audio commentaries. They are strangely authored due to the many features that are included. I have a cheap standalone BD player in a bedroom that will not even play the subs correctly from the original discs.

How to Use Subtitle Edit?

What format should I rip the disk, "iso" or fulldisc as a set of directories?

For these discs, I think Clone mode (ISO), although I make BDMV folders for everything else.
