DVDFab Lifetime ... True lifetime?

Right now they are doing a promotion with the AV200 and lifetime DVDFab. Are these true lifetime licenses that allow me to upgrade to DVDFab 10, 11, 12, etc forever? Or are they the limited lifetime licenses that require me to purchase upgrades?

True lifetime 10,11,12,13, etc.....;)
The only thing that would require a purchase, is if they create another module, which I'm not sure what else they could create they have pretty much covered everything for videos.

Well, you were able to go from DVD9 to DVD5 in Version 3 so it must have been before that.

I think I bought V3 around 2003-2004 so V1 would have been prior to that.

Early 2000's I would venture.

I'm not certain of the date either, but GregiBoy's guess is as good as any.
Once upon a time, Fab was offered in 2 modules: Express and Gold.
As I recall, Express had compression functionality whereas Gold did not, but Gold offered Full Disc copy and would burn to 2 dvd5 discs as necessary.

This was way back before dual layer burning was available...at least for the retail market.
I was using Lite-On's very first dvd burner... Lite-On LDW-401S DVD+R/RW.
Last I knew, it still works...:D:rolleyes:

Now sometime during v.2 releases (maybe the 1st?), these modules were also made available as a combined product known as Platinum.
I still have a bunch of v.2 installers archived...
not sure why....maybe it's just an old fart thing...:D:cool:

When I first used Fab it was a free version was that version 1?

I can't remember but I think their were no paid versions then.I think we had to use another program to shrink way back then.
I am interested in Fab history.

I think Fengtao always offered a free version, but frankly it was a long time ago.
If no luck on the net and if you're that interested, I'd email Fengtao and/or staff for a reliable history.

Just had a look on the Wayback Machine for DVDFab
First couple of archived pages come up with a a company called Optibase

Then on 30th July 2003 there is an entry saying "DVDFab was acquired by Fengtao Software" and not much else.

Starting from 2004 there are many pages, I picked one from random which happened to be 4th December 2004 and downloaded DVDFab Platinum 2.55 which installed perfectly into Virtual PC.

The free version when I started using it was called "DVDFab Express", just a very simple interface. I think DL support and the VSO burning engine came along in late v2, maybe 2.97 or so. I will try to find out, this is something that could go in a new forum section we are working on. I believe the last version put out by the previous owner was 0.x, number unknown.
