I believe that the LG WH14NS40 might be UHD capable IF the label on the drive reads 'SVC CODE: NS50' and IF it has firmware version 1.02 or lower. (You can always downgrade firmware using firmware downgrade tool but if you factor in the cost of the utility it would end up costing more than the WH16NS60 drive by itself.) I have three WH14NS40 drives (one with firmware 1.02, and two with 1.03) and they have all worked flawlessly. Of course you wont know how the label on the drive reads till you acquire it, so its a crap shoot, but will likely have 1.03 but will also likely be an NS50. You can always try it and if it has 1.03, then return it and get the WH16NS60. The only thing you lose is time. Or you might save 50 bucks.
