There is no ETA to resolve this problem. Our competitor is also going through this as well, but you wouldn't really know it because, as usual, they are maintaining radio silence. They hate to let out anything that makes them look bad. Here, we are trying to be as open about this as we can be.I have been told by a reliable source on the staff that the Developers have been working late into the night since this DRM change happened. They are also working this weekend. that was it here too.It was clear that the old version would be deactivated at some point...I remember in December I asked in the forum whether it would happen again this year... Now it happened a little later in January...And it will happen again in a year!And it will bring Streamfab to a standstill again and again if the components under the hood are not updated in a timely manner.And the interim solution in 2021 was to recode the downloads. At the time, this wasn't possible for me with my hardware. A film would have taken over 10 hours to edit...

my hope for the future. That the influence of @jpp72 and @Cats4U makes a difference in terms of the programs under the hood... I think they don't see it much differently than I do on the subject. If I'm not mistaken, someone has already criticized something because a tool underneath was too old...

The Developers were hard at work trying to defeat the DRM change before it even happened. But at the same time, everybody continued to complain about really minor problems that were then sent up to the Developers. My post was to warn the users as to what was coming and that the DRM change should be the priority for the Developers and not all the minor problems. I also warned that it might take some time to get the DRM change resolved and that they shouldn't bitch at StreamFab because it is all part of a cat and mouse game. I got a lot of hate mail on that one. It's fun reading now, but it was very painful then.

Also, I need to be very careful in the words I use (which is not a normal thing for me) because they could be taken the wrong way in a stressed time period such as this. Example: In the big red banner at the top of the forum, I used the words "over time" meaning that more and more modules may go bad as the different streamers start using the new DRM. That is turning out to be the case. Some individual (forcing myself to not use the name I want to use) on the Reddit website decided that "over time" meant that we were saying that it's going to take a real long time to get the DRM problem fixed. Grrrrr! The banner probably will be changed today. Jack is going to do it. He knows the right way to word things. He is a computer business professional, I'm just a retired old fart. :eek:

Maybe that helps, but i dont know... browsers i use (opera, FF) cant access my tv-vendor, telling me, "not supported browser", but Edge can with no obstacles. So i can see tv only with edge but not with the other ones, also no access with streamfab.

Sounds like you don't have the latest Opera and Firefox updates. If you do, Google how to install the latest widevinecdm for those browsers. With Edge, either you have the latest update and Widevine or it is using PlayReady.

HeeHeeHee! You want to come down from Boston and teach my wife how to work our TV or our Nvidia Shield? My wife is a certified Luddite. She doesn't want anything to do with technology. My one and only success with her was about 15 years ago when I taught her how to use a WDTV Live Media Player. That is the only thing she will touch. So, that means all her shows have to be downloaded by yours truly. And it has to be in H264 because the WDTV never got H265 before it was discontinued.

Install Kodi on your Shield and run it in Files mode. No Library. Set the startup to go to your files and only have one source. Actually easier to use than the WDTV (Which i used to love). She opens Kodi and right away she sees the files/folders containing the video files.

If the shield navigation is an issue, set Kodi to run at startup and she never has to deal with the Shield menu. You can also just put Kodi as the 1st icon on the home screen. :)

If streamfab is not able to use Widevine L1 how do you expect them to be able to do PlayReady when that is much more difficult and there is no public info like there is with Widevine.

By the way, the DRM has nothing to do with the resolution. If Amazon didn't have DRM, the download would be a maximum of 1080p.

Chrome CDM gets you 1080p on NF and AMZ above 1080p you need L1.
Disney+ 1080p and above is L1 (StreamFab is using cached keys for 1080p)
Apple TV above SD is L1.

Back when there was a 2-week warning on a previous change, I recall someone over at the other site getting in trouble for even mentioning the term "widevine". They acted like it was suddenly going to force unneeded attention and shut them down.

It not that difficult as i already seen a program that uses Widevine and PR together, it's more the time, energy and priority you want to put in to get something working.

There is definitely more it's just the key/DRM that is used that wil release the eccess of that max resolution they have, getting 4K DV+DDPA from AMZN through broswer as the same for DSNP, APTV, etc., is possible.
