First post of that thread says not possible on PC, and the thread suggests an Android box. I tried this post from later in the thread ->
https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=158288&sid=cba2e93a49a9b45341b988aeb6dfff99#p158288 But it Doesn't seem to help with "Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 5, dvhe.05.06, BL+RPU, no metadata compression" videos.
This WIKI indicates (in the overview section) that DV is not possible on PC ->
https://r-htpc.github.io/wiki/hdr#vlc however there is a VLC HDR section, and using those settings makes no difference with dvhe.05.06 files.
Of course HDR10 and DV Profile 7 and 8 which include fall back to HDR10 work.
I have few Profile 5 files, and rarely if ever watch them on my PC, so its not a concern. Just trying for educational purpose.
