Hello,I have been using Streamfab for over a month now for Fandango movies. All my movies download just fine except ones that I only own the SD version. I have tried setting the download to SD quality and match the audio format but no matter what I do I keep getting the error "Failed to retrieve video playback information, please confirm you have purchased and can playback the video.Again this only happens if I own the SD version only. To run a test I upgraded a movie this was happening to to the HDX version and then the movie will download. This is not a valid workaround since I do not want to upgrade 500+ movies would be to expensive and most of them are not worth the HDX version. I have also tried starting the movie so it plays in SD first and then click the analyze download and still get the error. If anyone has a workaround it would be very appreciative. Thanks,Jake

I did just try this and even uninstalled the software and reinstalled it. It still wont download any SD versions I own.Thanks,Jake

Not sure I know what you are asking about encrypted. Any movie I have in Fandango that I try to download if it shows I have the SD version it wont let me download. It tells me to verify I own the movie. I feel that Streamfab is trying to download the HDX version but I only have the SD version and need to find out how to tell it to download the SD version.

There don't seem many settings for Fandango at Home.This could also explain why a few other members have issues still.You might have to try member feedback and pray they get what the issue is and fix it.I NEVER bought or rented any movies from there, so I can't say.I found a free with ads SD movie, and it seems to work after a relatively long analyzing, when downloading. But the rent/buy movies most likely are set or done differently.ADDED Ok never mind with the free with ads movies, I see you get a specific error with the rent/buy movies, "Failed to retrieve video playback information, please confirm you have purchased and can playback the video."

I posted about it 3 weeks ago and never got an answer I had intended on posting it again but now that you've posted it I probably won't I'll just keep an eye on this one. I have about 45 movies of the 1500 movies I own that I cannot download because I get that error code. Hopefully they may be able to figure it out.

One flick of the switch on the Fandango server and all 1500 of those movies you think you own could be gone permanently. It almost happened last year. The 45 SD problem sounds like an SF issue, and it should be fixed shortly. If Fandango goes down, kiss all your 1500 movies goodbye. StreamFab (streamers) and the Scene (torrents and newsgroups) are the only way to actually "own" videos. Sure, they'll call you a pirate, but would you rather you screw them, or they screw you? And they will screw you. It's just a matter of time.

:-) this is one reason I am using Streamfab to convert all my movies to MKV. The other is I want to move all the movies I purchased from all the different services to my Plex Server that I control and prefer the interface. If Plex ever goes away I at least have all the MKV's as well.

Since July of 2025, I have submitted a ticket stating that SD movies will not download from Fandango stating: Failed to retrieve video playback information Please confirm you have purchased and can playback the video. The latest version 7.0.0.9 still unable to download hundreds of SD movies on Fandango. There are a few SD that were NOT in a bundle that downloaded. So the issue must be within the bundles. I have given examples for over 6 months and each update stated no changes with fixing things with Fandango. They keep closing the ticket even though it is not fixed. I feel it is so rude to close a ticket that has not been fixed. Am I being ignored? Almost all my purchased Bundles are in SD. I have had Vudu/Fandango for years. I have done several clean installs as and updated every time with new upgrade. Is anyone able to download SD movies within purchased Bundle? Has anyone waited a year for them to fix something in StreamFab?
Some series now are not downloading with same error. Some Season “101” extras or clips do not download as well in Fandango. Also Fandango Analyzes sooooo slow. Other services take a few seconds, Fandango can take 7 minutes. I have not been able to download trailers as well. Has anyone been able to download trailers? not the featurettes, the Movie trailers. HELP

If they close the ticket, it may be that it’s something they cannot solve, or something they do not advertise as supported, or perhaps something changed with Fandango; it’s always a cat and mouse to have any of this stuff work. No guarantee anything will work forever, and only some features may end up working. Kind of how it is. Perhaps they are focused on the 4K and UHX (1080p) versions, which are generally what most folks want to get who use this app. I don’t work for SF, just decade of using their kit for various things.

If it were me, I’d start a new thread, not pile onto a year old one, and include your SF log after clearing cache/temp folder, try to download a SDR file, then post the relevant section of log file here so learned folks might take a peek and have advice. Just a thought 🙂
