AV1 files don't play correctly in PowerDVD 24

PowerDVD 24 which supports AV1 play netflix AV1 scrambled but other programs play the AV1 files correctly. Using other codecs besides AV1 work perfectly in all programs.

Seems it might be more of a PowerDVD 24 issue. Why not use (free) VLC player? If that doesn't play a video file, then it is usually corrupted or some other strange issue.

Now, maybe someone else on here uses PowerDVD and knows a solution and can say if it can be fixed or not in PowerDVD.

PowerDVD may need codecs on Windows; VLC player has them all built into it.
You can check that by trying the Windows Movies & TV player.

I have played AV1 files from YouTube in PowerDVD 24 and these play back perfectly.

OK, Could maybe be an issue with SF. Have you tried, just so it's known, using mkv(mkvtoolnix), mkv(ffmpeg) and mp4?
YouTube could easily use a different AV1 Codec.

I tried VLC and Windows Movies & TV player and Windows Media Player and no issues with AV1 from Netflix.
So other than trying different settings in SF, you may have to view those with a different player.

I am also assuming the files are not by chance corrupted, did you try another player just to see?

I will leave it at that, and maybe someone else more knowing about PowerDVD can answer.

Yep, and SF has no influence on the codec and color settings used by NF
as the video track is downloaded unchanged

If you use the NF Premium plan, you should check
whether AV1 SDR and HDR10 are equally affected.

Ironically one of the reasons I stopped using PowerDVD 22 and went to a ZIDOO box. AV1 was expressly NOT supported.

But now... looks like as long as you're saving as MKV/MP4 "should" be able to read.

Media Player Classic Home Cinema, which is part of K-Lite Codec pack, plays damn near everything. VLC and Kodi are a little clunky. Will also tone map HDR or DV content on a regular SDR display.
