Netflix downloading at reduced resolution

Suddenly my netflix downloads are only giving me 960 p resolution. What's happening?

Try to rename your cache (if SF closed) - like here
(after this new login for all provider required)

If this does not solve the problem:

Please close SF, rename the StreamFab.log
start SF, try once and after the problem/analyzing close SF
and attach your new StreamFab.log to your post

If this affect only single titles:

Since mid Oct 2023 NF only offers 540p for Sony and Universal Movies, if Widevine
Software Decryption is used. Better quality is only with Hardware Decryption.

Why do you think it's reduced? Sounds like it's a bar-crop job... what's the horizontal resolution 1920?

I can't remember ever getting cropped videos at NF ..
.. so I think he mean 960x540 and not 960p

I'm on 6255 due to HBO, and am FHD on 'flix Stateside whole day...

I renamed the cache and logged into Netflix again. I'm still getting reduced resolution and now I got a message about changing a setting in chrome. However, I checked and this is already set . I'm running build 6255 (due to HBO issues on 6266)

Downloading works fine with all available SF versions (6247-6256)
and playing in SF Browser is only broken with 6256 release
(fixed with testversion here)

Therefore, I assume that you will be auto logged out ..
.. or you have a problem with your widevinecdm.dll

Please close SF, rename the StreamFab.log
start SF, try once and after fails close SF
and attach your new StreamFab.log to your post

I seem to have gotten past this error message (although I didn't change anything in chrome) but still getting lower resolution. I'm still here downloaded at 960 x 540.

Yes, it is only offered by NF in 540p ..
.. because the Distributor for USA is Sony Pictures Classics - info

SF cannot download better than NF for Chrome offers.

edit: Other providers offer better quality

getting the same issue here on 6255 and 6257. only seems to be happening on movies that are not 'netflix originals'.

This is well known issue with Netflix ... certain studio content won't download in 1080p. I ran into this with 28 Years Later and Groundhog Day. Sadly, have to wait until the titles hit another streaming service like Universal's Peacock network (etc.).

I don't get Netflix via Prime video. I don't rent/rip on Prime. Groundhog Day and 28 Years Later are not included with PRIME in the U.S. unless purchased.

As I stated for those having issues on Netflix not getting 1080p, you have to wait for the title to hit another streaming service where 1080p is supported. E.g., Universal films will be on Peacock (owned by Universal) in 1080p at some point.

Are they trying to crack the encryption for those companies at HD, or are they just saying "it is what it is"? Not being disrespectful, just want to know if we should even hope.

So it's been like this for almost two years ..
.. and no change has ever been promised.

Incidentally, it was exactly the same with the competition at the time.

I see no indication that this could change anytime soon.

NF is the one offering only 540p in Chrome/Firefox ..
.. why is SF to blame if NF only offers 540p ?
