Even if they are nuking H264 I began preparing some time ago.
D+ has long been a two process task for me. Even those that are supposedly H265 are huge. I then run them through Shutter Encoder or Handbrake and there is a dramatic reduction in size with very few exceptions. D+'s concept of H265 is not quite H265. Now that I finally have broadband (Starlink) chunky downloads are not as much an issue as it was with ADSL 10Mb/s. I have updated everything in the house to be compatible with H265 and that’s all that I allow on the media server now. Even though SF sees H265 for some D+ titles I’m not too sure D+ is actually H265. When I can reduce a 3.9GB D+ H265 title to less than 2GB with no loss in quality it tells me something. If it is an issue of obsoletion for older Apple products I won’t be affected in that respect. Everything here is PC based.
And before someone says it. Yes, I know with Starlink I’m supporting a rich bigoted moron but protesting at 10Mb/s is akin to setting yourself on fire on the capitol steps. You’re the only one that gets burned. 😉
