When getting a new DVD drive, it only last for a short period before I start getting read errors and end up very frustrated. Putting the disc into another drive on another computer sometimes works. Putting the disk in an actual DVD / blue ray player and usually the disk is fine. I have had to replace a couple of disks. A lot of the times I have the issue when removing the disk from the packaging / case for the first time.
I recently had to recopy / re-rip about half or slightly more of my movie collection because I accidently deleted a folder. Fortunately, I only had issues with one disk, but was able to get the movie in question from other sources.
However, the issue I mentioned above is more of an issue when coping TV series. I seem to have better success copy the disks to an ISO file first, then copy the video files from the ISO. Is that my imagination or is it better (on the drives at least, if not all around) to use this method?
I just ordered a bunch of movies and a couple of tv series’, I of course want to get them copied to my PVR and as painless as possible
