New version won't download Amazon Prime video in H.265

The new version won’t download a video from Amazon prime in H.265, only H.264. The previous version would. If I click on H.265, it analyzes the video and then resets the format to H.264. I tried a video that I had previously been able to download at H.265, same thing. It analyzes for a few seconds and then resets to H.264.

My first PV download with 7001 (to test without faststart) was H265.

And in the past, it had … says nothing at all at Prime,
because they recode so often that I get some movies
in three different sizes within a year.

Name the country and title (if title included in Prime) ..
.. and then we can say something about it.
(I am also willing to test with multiple SF versions)

I tried with SF 6262 + 6267 in CA, DE, UK + US
and there is nowhere a H265 offer for s01e01

Consequently, no older SF version have different offer.

The only logical explanation is that the PV offer has changed.
So when adding new episodes (that were not encoded as H265),
the previous ones were removed. This confirms what I wrote:

just to echo @Germania - my downloads with Prime on 7001 and HEVC are coming through just fine 🤷‍♂️

When I downloaded the latest episode of The Mighty Nien I noticed that it would not let me select h265. When I did, it would analyze and switch back to h264. This was with 7.0.0.0, I’ve not tried with 7.0.0.1 yet.

Yeah, I just tried Mighty Nien myself with 7001, and wants to use H264.

I suspect it’s something with the particular show, for this The Mighty Nien.

ADDED: so far trying other shows or movies I get H265.

Correct, “The Mighty Nein” is not offered in H265, and
as a result, this is the case with every SF version.
But op wrote “The previous version would.” - example missing

I never claimed that all PV content would be available as H265.

' > 3% do not offer H265 and
' >3% of series with H265 have individual episodes
that are not available in H265.

For example “Good Girls Revolt” is available in H265
but nowhere is ep05 in H265 offered (tried 6 countries)

Germania I don’t know of a better way to show this so apologies if I’ve missed something obvious.
Attached is a screenshot of the download record from SF. You can see that the first three episodes of Mighty Nein are H.265, eps 4-6 are H.264. The first three were downloaded with whatever version of SF was current on 22 NOV 2025, the last three were downloaded last night with v7.0.0.1.

I tried to redownload S01E01 again last night and now it will only download in H.264.

Also, S01E01 downloaded no problem the first time around in H.265, I suspect the zero size showing is an effect of when I tried to download it again last night but cancelled the download.

Germania I downloaded the first 5 episodes in 265, but the sixth one is only in 264. And now the first 5 are also only in 264.
