There is no install. Once extracted, click on StreamFab Metadata Editor.exe and use open or double click to run.

Nice to see if this works.
I currently use Audio and Video Tag Editor Studio, but that program crashes when I try to edit the Cover art for MKV files.

While I can’t speak to export NFO as I haven’t tried it, format and rename video file names appears to refer to the rename templates in the settings.

I have it set as follows:

and after I lookup the meta data, use use the Save Meta Data button, the file gets renamed per the template settings

I’ve been using it to add meta and rename my disc rips from the Seinfeld Complete Series 4K set I bought. So far so good.

Nothing needs to be installed … so you mean run the tool

I can’t say what is missing (or requirement for exe) ..
.. for me it works on Win11 - but not with one of two Win10 PCs
(all three included Win Dec Update)

Where it is not executable, there is no error message and nothing in the event log.

I can’t say for the metadata program, but I vaguely recall issues with one or 2 other issues like that with another program, and it was found to be an issue of systems missing either Visual-C-Runtimes (https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/) and (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170)
~~and/or net framework (https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/10.0/runtime~~)

The first linked “Visual-C-Runtimes-All-in-One-Dec-2025” with install_all.bat
as admin was the first I tried on affected win10 (where SF works)
and all tools with associated errors also display an error on startup

Now I tried “NET 10.0 Desktop Runtime”
(don’t exist on win10 where it works)

=> It changed nothing for me (also after restart)

It was worth a guess. Every program is different.
I know there was one that would not open, and the Visual runtimes fixed it.
Let’s just refer to it as “programxyz.exe”
It would not open and no error in logs.
Statement from developer of “programxyz.exe”:

If you did update, rebooted and it still does not open, likely the updater did not detect Visual C++ properly or you skipped it while installing. Download and update/repair Visual C++

I might try Win10 if I have time.
Some other possibilities:
