Trying to download the new CNN movie about Chevy Chase:
https://www.cnn.com/videos/title-2551465
Signed in with my cable provider (Xfinity) and plays/streams fine. When I use te linl in StreamFab, it "analyzes: forever and never downloads. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Most sites that require a cable TV provider login to download from have not worked for a long time in SF.

TBS, TNT, abc, cbs nbc, I think most all don’t work.

I tried CNN and SF won’t even log in via Xfinity, let alone get it to try to analyze.

It seems also that content is DRM protected, or I would suggest video downloadhelper, but that won’t download DRM protected videos.

You might find a recorder software that records it, but that’s about all.

Thx….You verified everything I’ve tried. Was pretty sure it was DRM-protected, but kinda hoping I could still download it then bypass the protection. Looks like I’ll have to do the screen recorder route - a real pain.

Perhaps someone would be willing to give their username/password to https://www.xfinity.com/stream/ (Xfinity Stream) to the developer for testing purposes to break the DRM. I gave the developer mine about 2 years ago, but they were unable to crack it. The developer at the time did not appear to be as good as the one now. I did my part back then, it’s time for someone else to do theirs. If Xfinity Stream’s DRM gets cracked, there is the possibility of downloading all your Xfinity channels/shows/movies (obviously, if you still have Xfinity cable), both live and VOD. Xfinity Stream is a much more likely method to work than the “TV provider login” method using Adobe Entitlement, which hasn’t worked in years, if ever.

It sure would help those who still have Xfinity if they did break the DRM but seeing SF lackluster results with Paramount+, I highly lowered any expectations I had.

As for giving SF login info, Xfinity checks not only via that, but Xfinity also checks if it is their internet you are using, plus Xfinity added 2FA, and several other security measures.
As for me saying Xfinity also checks if it is their internet you are using, I obviously can’t check 100% as all I have is Xfinity. But I know they increased their security measures during 2025.

And as for CNN, I won’t go into how to get logged in via SF as it’s pointless as then the DRM MDP downloader starts to download and ends with:

I had just assumed that I couldn’t download from Xfinity Stream because I couldn’t 2 years ago. It turns out you can download the Chevy Chase documentary as either On Demand or To Go. The only downside is that the video is only 480p. It uses DRM MPD.

Although both are 480p, the On Demand has a better bitrate and thus a larger size.

Now that I see the Chevy show works, I’m going to see what else I can get and hopefully at a better resolution.
