MrGrackle Funny thing… did not see any verbage about updating the YT download engine in the release notes.
Wonder how many other things were secretly updated.
7007 is using 2025-12-08. (latest release version of yt-dlp, but many nightly’s since. (2026.01.06)
7006,7005 has 2025-12-08 too.
I get why some don’t want to use yt-dlp as it’s accessed via command line. And I now use yt-dlp (nightly) always.
If not, then I highly recommend Stacher7, an amazing GUI wrapped around yt-dlp (nightly’s) and deno.
(YES for FREE)
As Stacher7 is run each day it keeps updated to the latest nightly of yt-dlp and checks for deno.
Jdownloader2 has let me down. Now I have not checked in the last month, but after asking the developer of jdownloader2 about YT videos srt, and being told it can not download them, I lost interest.
I hope that gets fixed or is fixed.
Even TubeDigger can get srt’s.
As for me, YT still works in SF.
The browser in SF is older than me. Keep an eye out on or after Jan 20th.
SF browser is still v138, and the latest is v144, and SF fakes the browser user agent
