I am reporting a persistent networking issue with DVDFab 13 on macOS (Apple Silicon) that prevents the application from connecting to DVDFab servers.
Issue summary:
DVDFab is unable to establish an internet connection from within the application. Any feature requiring server access fails, including metadata synchronization, Meta Collection, and account-related services, even though the Mac itself has a fully functional internet connection.
Observed behavior:
“Synchronizing Meta information from the server…” hangs indefinitely
Meta Collection setup fails with the message:
“Failure to connect the internet, please check your network connection and retry”
TV DVD metadata never loads (no episode/season identification)
The issue occurs consistently across multiple DVDs
System environment:
Hardware: Apple Silicon (M1)
macOS: Latest version (currently installed)
DVDFab version: DVDFab 13 – latest available build
Internet connectivity: Fully functional system-wide (Safari, App Store, other applications work normally)
Firewall: OFF
VPN: OFF
Proxy: Not in use (manual proxy configuration disabled)
Network tests:
Home network
Mobile phone hotspot
(Issue persists across all networks)
Additional technical notes:
Discs are detected correctly and can be ripped, confirming the drive and disc access are functional.
The failure appears to occur at the application networking or TLS/authorization layer rather than the local network.
Since DVDFab cannot connect to its servers, all features dependent on online services (metadata sync, Meta Collection, TV episode logic) are unusable.
This does not appear to be user misconfiguration, as all standard firewall, VPN, proxy, DNS, and network causes have been ruled out.
I would appreciate guidance on:
Whether this is a known issue with the current macOS Apple Silicon build
Any required macOS permissions, entitlements, or known workarounds
Whether a patched or alternate build is available that resolves outbound connectivity failures on macOS
Please let me know if logs or additional diagnostics would be helpful.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
