This is why it is recommended that you never click the “Update” button to move to the new version. SF should remove that as an available option. While you don’t specifically say that you did go the Update route, it’s the most likely scenario if a full reinstall fixed the issue for you.
Some people always fully uninstall / reinstall for each version. I don’t find that necessary – I download the full 700 MB file and install it on top of the prior version. Haven’t had any issues with updates in about 6 months doing that.
