Installed 7.0.1.2 from Offline Installer and it changed my settings

Did this happen to anyone else?

I had 7.0.1.1 (installed from Offline Installer, as always) and just downloaded 7.0.1.2 from the DOWNLOAD page.

After startup it showed me the splash screen to purchase new products (which I don’t see at startup, as I have lifetime). Clicked DON’T SHOW AGAIN and the splash screen closed.

Wen SF opened it was in LIGHT mode (I have DARK mode specified), and it shows I’m logged in, but it started with a “tip” to select my services. I had over 12, it was only showing 6.

Then I looked at Settings and it retained my download paths, but my other settings changed: Movie / TV name template were set to default values, play sound was selected (I had that disabled), display Adult Services was selected (I had that disabled), Monitor Clipoboard is enabled (I had that disabled), etc.

So Q1: Is there a way I can recover my settings if I stupidly didn’t backup my SF install folders first?

Q2: Did this happen to anyone else?

The StreamFab.ini have no auto backup ..
.. so you can only try a System Restore or better use your last Win Backup

Correction: it also changed my directory paths - bad, bad, bad!!!

My SF drive is D:, and I have separate top-level directories for download, logs, and temp, but it created a top-level directory named StrafmFab and put these folders under it two levels deep.

I may take a guess but say you downloaded from: https://streamfab.com/mlink?p=StreamFab_x64

The DVDFab download uses dvdfab\streamfab
The StreamFab download uses streamfab\streamfab

Weird thing is it had me as logged in and as authorized, so it retained SOMETHING about my prior install, but wiped everything else.

Why are they different installers from the dedicated StreamFab page and the DVD link, though? SHouldn’t these be the same installer?

They have different file sizes: the one marked (1) is from the link you shared, Stan:

I also just added to the 2026 roadmap page a request to add options to export/import user settings.

I have no answer; it’s been like that for a long time. They made the StreamFab download different from the DVDFab download.

The smaller file have timestamp 09:51 - that’ what I installed
The larger file have timestamp 10:23 - it’s newer

Differents in: libcefbase.dll, QCef.exe, StreamClient.exe, StreamFab64.exe

I just installed 7012 from Stan’s link, overwriting the 7012 I installed from the SF download page, and at startup it restored my settings from 7011 (even replaced a template change I had just made in my earlier 7012 install)

So hopefully I’m back in business, but SF devs need to look at this, IMHO, to ensure all offline installers are the same and are not going to roll-back or change user settings.

I can point out one end-user experience difference I observed between the two installers I used today: The one I installed from the Streamfab download page was full of pop-ups: try this product, rate us, etc. Haven’t seen one pop-up yet in my second installation (from the link Stan shared).

For new versions I usually download from the Forum sticky and it always goes to the /dvdfab/streamfab/ folder. Are you saying this behavior has changed?
Going to extended download service usually requires extra steps.

MrGrackle What happened was I found, buried in a thread somewhere, that a new version of SF was available. However, there was no sticky thread with the changelog, so I used the “public” download link (see my follow-up post) to get the latest version. And that was the problem: the “public” download was installed to the same location as my prior versions and kept me logged in with my SF account, but completely reset all my other settings: and logged me out of all services. When I used the link that is generally posted in the forum, all my settings were “restored”. And I found that the EXE installers (public vs forum) had different file sizes. So SF, at least for that release, was maintaining two different installers - both were for offline x64, but came from different places, and behaved differently. That shouldn’t be the case, but that’s what happened.

I would not even want to guess how long this has been an issue.
If users download form streamfab.com, leading to https://streamfab.com/download.htm and https://streamfab.com/mlink?p=StreamFab_x64 then it uses streamfab\streamfab

If users get it from dvdfab.cn at https://www.dvdfab.cn/download.htm, it then leads to https://www.dvdfab.cn/mlink/download.php?g=StreamFab_x64 which uses dvdfab\streamfab

There is no answer as to why, and it’s been like that for a long time, most likely since the implementation of streamfab.com. If users are here in the forum, they look in the sticky/pinned post, which always has https://www.dvdfab.cn/mlink/download.php?g=StreamFab_x64

Unfortunately lately the releases posted in this community have not been visible unless you used https://forum.dvdfab.cn/t/releases-streamfab, after some time they then become available to view at just https://forum.dvdfab.cn/t/streamfab

It might also be that if users do access the extended downloads at the StreamFab.com member center, they may have similar issues. The ones in the DVDFab Extended Download Member Center are fine.

Stan001 Good summary, Stan! Perhaps this should be in the 2026 Roadmap thread as something for the SF deployment team to address, as it’s definitely confusing and seems counterproductive to produce and share different versions of what should be the same release installer…

Yup, just verified the link. I have not installed 7012 yet but the forum link is dvdfab, not streamfab.
