FYI: Disney+ is disabling Dolby Vision, HDR10+, more for some users

News article today: Due to a patent dispute, Disney+ is disabling HDR+ and DolbyVision regionally and may expand to other regions:

A [Disney+] support page has even removed mention of Dolby Vision, including in the US market.

Reports of Dolby Vision and HDR10+ disappearing have only come from France, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, and Germany, but the removal on Disney’s support page suggests other regions could be affected in the future as well.

Yes, but Disney won’t let it go like that. They’ll fight it… I don’t think Streamfab cares… it will still find the Dolby files…

Maybe someone in one of the impacted regions can check to see if they still see a “DV” or “HDR10” label when viewing a title on a device and on the Disney+ web site, and then let us know what SF is returning for the same title.

Ex: Check “Andor” and see if SF still offers DV as a download option if Disney has removed that format from the Details section for Andor on the web site.

Luckily, per the varied news posts, this seems to only impact Germany and parts of Europe and not the U.S., unless I read all that wrong.

I just tried bunch of new content like the Muppets, HULU/The Beauty this week episode; and all are available in HDR10, DV, and DA. (I am in the US, noVPN, full verified nonads acct)

Maybe edit the thread title to blah….“in Eurpoe” ?

The article leans towards them disabling DV/HDR10+ beyond the currently stated regions based on acknowledgement of DV being removed as a supported format on their support pages. Time will tell…
