I’m now getting 1080p on S0NY movies from Netflix. S0NY movies were limited for as long as I can remember to a max resolution of 540p, so either I missed the news, or SF made a change, or Netflix did!

Something happened cause I can also get movies from sony on Netflix in 1080p now.

Netflix made a change; you can get it via just a browser in 1080p now.

They do talk about a new deal, but of course, there’s no mention of 540p or 1080p via browser.

Yes get them at 1080p while you can.
May find that they all are, and may be part of the new deal betwen Netflix and Sony.

Just always remember if you get 540p check a movie with Netflix in Red and see if that’s 540p or 1080p.
They where and always are in 1080p. If that stops then there is an issue or problem.

Technically I get them 1080p or 4K all the time when available (I buy the discs). LOL.

Back in the day (think Limewire/Napter era), NF was the solution to the bootlegging problem. It was reasonably priced and offered a ton of content. Then things changed.

As far as I can see, Universal Pictures movies are still in 540p max resolution.

Netflix I have a huge dislike about them.
Only reason I still have them is my cable company provides it.
Once I change packages wth my cable provider I will no longer have Netflix.
I hate ads and the Netflix package that the cable provider offered has ads.
I hate the price without ads and the on top of that if I want 4k it’s close to double the price.
But in the end I guess I just got use to many movies only offering 540p. I would then decide if I want to download or not.
Some shows are ok to me in 540p, some movies came out fine with me upscalling them to 1080p.

Personally, I love NETFLIX as they do a lot of genre series in my wheelhouse (Lost IN Space, the OA, Three Body Problem) and also resurrect stuff like the new Invader Zim movie, etc. – most of the other services keep recycling the same 100 movies over and over and over and over. Super annoying.
