I’m glad that Paramount+ is once again working for 1080p (and higher) videos. But for some reason I can’t play any of the new videos on my blu-ray player, which plays most videos fine. Tried SF 7.0.1.2 and 7.0.1.3. I realize this is probably a niche issue with just my device, but still something must now be different with Paramount videos as other service video playback fine. I compared Transformers One, (MP4 1080p) with another version I had previously downloaded when P+ was last working for a direct comparison. In MediaInfo all fields under tree view were pretty much identical. The only difference I could see was the following: Writing application: Lavf60.3.100 (Older) > Lavf62.3.100 (Newer) I tried FireFox to test if it was web optimized. It kind of plays in the background but there’s a grey overlay saying the file is corrupt. VLC played it fine, but VLC plays almost everything. I also checked the video for errors in two different programs, but none were detected. Alternative versions tried that also didn’t work., MKV (which still downloaded as MP4), 4K, and 720p. Also tried a couple of TV Show episodes which have the same problem. Maybe one of you savvy viewers can find whats different about these videos that could be causing a compatibility issue.

@"roku_player"#p478443 I face the same problem, both of my Sony BD players dont replay mp4 from Paramount+. anymore, I have to remux them with "avidemux" to have them played, a small program, that works very fast. I am afraid there is an issue of the remuxing software in SF, as the files run fine with all of my mediaplayers and the VLC on my PC. Moreover the last working version to download from, P+, however only in 540p, was 7.0.0.9, Not all Users have this problem (see "Paramount+ still does not work in 7.0.1.3" https://forum.dvdfab.cn/d/471130-paramount-still-does-not-work-in-7013), but I now installed 7.0.0.9 in parallel with 7.0.1.3, which unfortunately is the only version that works with Apple TV. All of this is not very convenient, but it works so far

As Germania says, replace the ffmpeg version in the StreamFab program folder and see if that makes a difference. He talks about it in post 2. I still see no issues, and for now from the reports here it's Paramount+. I don't use or have access to it, but others do. So SF needs to look at the Paramount+ module much more.

With each SF update that comes out, I replace the FFmpeg with the latest nightly BtbN Master GPL version available. I use two types of nightly FFmpeg files, just like StreamFab does. I use a shared type and a non-shared (static) type. If you don't know what the difference is, don't worry about it. Both types have been compiled by BtbN. As I said, I use the nightly GPL version, which means that they are updated every day with the latest changes and fixes. You can get both types from https://github.com/BtbN/FFmpeg-Builds/releases. You want to take the Master type files, which will give you the most mature and stable version (* see below). The files you want are ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl.zip and ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl-shared.zip. You might have to expand the Assets display to see all the 51 available download files if you don't see both of those files. Firstly, for safety's sake, make a backup of StreamFab's C:\Program Files\DVDFab\StreamFab directory to go back to if things don't work out. Unzip the ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl-shared.zip file and place the contents of the BIN subdirectory into C:\Program Files\DVDFab\StreamFab. Then, unzip the ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl.zip file and place the ffmpeg.exe file (from the BIN subdirectory) into C:\Program Files\DVDFab\StreamFab. Having done all this, you are now using the newest, most stable version of FFmpeg in StreamFab. The git master builds are built from the master branch of the repository, which is where all development occurs whereas the release builds are built from the latest release branch. These are essentially a snapshot of the master branch at a given point of time. They are updated with bug and security fixes for a while but no new features. It is **highly recommended** to choose a git master build; unlike many software, releases are primarily made for the convenience of OS distributors and package managers and don't signify greater stability or maturity. For a bug report to be accepted, the issue must be reproducible using a very recent git master build.

t’s really strange — I’m having the same issue with downloads from Joyn. My TV simply won’t play them. Tomorrow I’ll check whether this also affects my Disney videos; those are already a while old. At first, I suspected a hardware defect with the USB stick, but I can rule that out now.

Weird, my Plex plays all files fine. Then at the end of the screenshot post, the OP says: > Well, i reinstalled plex media server and all is good now. Odd that it only affected recent downloads.

Much appreciated for the responses! The consensus seems align with Germania’s suggestion regarding ffmpeg. And too, it may address the muxing issue that Chrys100 believes to be the problem. Also thanks Cats4U for the great instructions on how to download and replace ffmpeg. I’ll play with both newer and older versions to see if one corrects the issue.

I was having problems with playback after upgrading from SF 7.0.0.9 to 7.0.1.6. The video from certain Disney+ shows and movies were grey or rainbow colored, and the audio was nothing but digital noise… if there was any audio. None of my media players or my Plex server could play the files, and I checked to make sure I had the latest CODECs, which I did. I decided to downgrade my SF back to 7.0.0.9 to see what would happen and it solved all my problems. A quick note, I was able to recreate the same issue on my laptop for some of the shows. Installed 7.0.0.9,, upgraded, and then downgraded. On that end I don’t believe it’s the Lavf62.3.100, since both 7.0.1.6 and 7.0.0.9 were using the same ffmpeg version. To me it looks like it might be related to how StreamFab is encoding or muxing the segments in the newest version of the software. Yes, they use the same writer, but that doesn’t mean the segments are being assembled and encoded in the same way.

daniel.brunson Well, if you update from 7009 to 7016 using the updater, you basically just get garbage. Therefore, I don’t think our problem is the same!

The developers are looking into that issue. They indicated it may be a DRM issue. Please note, though, that the Disney+ issue was only about downloading Hulu content from the Disney+ website. Disney+ content does not have issues. For best results, always use the Hulu module to download Hulu content (assuming you have a combined Disney+Hulu combo plan).

I saw you posting in the the newer thread about unplayable Disney+ videos. Hopefully a solution was found there if changing the ffmpeg version didn’t work.

Though I did receive a pop up message in Disney+ stating that due to changes on the website StreamFAB was temporarily unable to analyze videos. So I don’t know if that could be something related.

roku_player I know that the analyzing part was due to the changes made to the European Disney+ servers, but that didn’t have any effect on the US Disney+ servers. I was using 7009 and decided to update, but that’s when my problems/issues started. I tried @Cats4U option listed above and that didn’t help, but that’s because I tried installing the newest ffmpeg version instead of downgrading it. On Reddit, another person said to simply downgrade to a previous version of SF, which I did, and my problems/issues went away.

Living with the prompt that I need to upgrade due to the analyzer is something I can live with as long as the downloaded files work. But so far, everything 7013 and higher has caused problems so I’ll wait to see what happens with the next SF update.

Please don’t say you are using my method if you don’t follow my instructions exactly. I made it very clear that I only use the latest nightly build of BtbN’s Master version of FFmpeg.

This holds true for my instructions on how to do a Clean Install of StreamFab found in the Sticky section of this forum. I’ve seen so many convoluted methods being used by forum users here and credited to my instructions when they don’t work. My methods have worked for years for me.

This topic revolves around Paramount and Joyn, which may have some similarities. It’s not about Disney or DRM problems, but simply that the videos can’t be played on some TVs. And for some reason, FFMPEG might be involved.

@Cats4U I tried to use your instructions again for the newest version but it still did not work. Could you maybe flag where I may have made a mistake?

I went to https://github.com/BtbN/FFmpeg-Builds/releases.
Since there are many files, to make sure I got the correct ones I did a search for them using the full file names (including the .zip) in the expanded Assets and downloaded the files:
ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl.zip
ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl-shared.zip
I went to “C:\Program Files\DVDFab\StreamFab”. I removed the older versions of the following files and replaced them with these from the “ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl-shared.zip” bin folder (granted since the names are different its probably not necessary):
avcodec-62.dll
avdevice-62.dll
avfilter-11.dll
avformat-62.dll
avutil-60.dll
ffmpeg.exe
ffprobe.exe
swresample-6.dll
swscale-9.dll
I then replaced the ffmpeg.exe with version from the “ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl.zip” bin folder

Again it fails during the remixing giving an ErrorCode 702.

Other Notes:

I didn’t add ffplay.exe from the shared bin since I didn’t see one in the SF folder.
I left avesample-4.dll (which seemed related) in the SF folder since the shared bin didn’t have one.
I replaced the ffmpeg.exe from the shared bin and with the one from the non-shared bin as that seemed like what your instructions implied. (non-shared is referencing “ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl.zip”)
Also I tried once with the ffprobe.exe from the shared bin and another using the version from non-shared bin (even though you didn’t specify this version), but I still had the problem.

Comfirmed.
I can’t play MP4 videos downloaded via StreamFab (Win11/USA/No VPN) on my Sony blu-ray player and Samsung 4K TV.
The problem occurs only in StreamFab from version 7.0.0.7 to the most current version as of today 7.0.1.6 .
7.0.0.6 and below is okay.
MAK videos are okay.

Germania stated the following FFmpeg releases used by StreamFab….
ffmpeg 8.0.1 (Lavf62.3.100) SF 7.0.0.7 - 7.0.1.6
ffmpeg 7.1.1 (Lavf61.7.100) SF 6.2.3.8 - 7.0.0.6
ffmpeg 6.0 (Lavf60.3.100) SF xxxx - 6.2.3.7

SF 7.0.0.7 - 7.0.1.6 uses FFmpeg Lavf62.3.100. FFmpeg at that level is what causing the problem.
If I downgrade SF 7.0.0.7 - 7.0.1.6 to FFmpeg Lavf61.7.100, the problem is fixed.

MP4 videos with this issue are from the following providers:
Apple TV
Fandango (Vudu)
Roku
Netflix
Paramount +

This problem does not occurred with these providers…
Amazon
DAZN
Disney +
HBOMax
Hulu
Tubi

I couldn’t test all those modules, but I did verify that Roku is indeed affected by the current ffmpeg 8.0.1.

Without knowing what exactly is different with the files created by the ffmpeg versions or having a device like our blu-ray players to flag them, this issue may be difficult to troubleshoot. That’s why I’m hoping to get the newest ffmpeg nightly build working using Cats4U’s instructions . This way I can at least versify if the issue has been fixed or if its still persistent.

For the time being, in order to make sure the video files are the most compatible, I will continue to downgrade ffmpeg to 7.1.1 (Lavf61.7.100) after each SF update.

Oh and if you have recent files already downloaded from the provider list esa522 shared, chrys100 mentioned you can use “avidemux” to quickly remux the videos to fix them.

Then users need to realize ffmpeg 8.0.1 ( has been in SF since 7.0.0.7 back to 2026-01-16.
And if that is what is causing this, users have much work ahead of them fixing files.

Indeed we need to hear from @Wilson.Wang on this.
Right now I know I don’t feel like going back to files from late January to see if the play or not.
So far videos play with Plex, but I doubt I watched all videos I have downloaded since late Janurary.
But if they don’t work I might try running them through handbrake and if no success then look to “avidemux” .

Also is it using ffmpeg for mp4 and mkv or just mp4?
And then it should inot affect mkv with the mkvtoolnix option?
So that option could maybe be used to get around it.
But if users feel fine going back to ffmpeg 7.11, and replacing it in the SF folder, and it’s working, then they should do what is working,

This should effect me as I get videos from:
Fandango
Roku
Netflix
I guess though mostly Netflix.

Also at same time I change between mp4 and mkv so don’t know.

I agree that not all providers are affected. Perhaps it’s due to the difference between DRM M3U8 and DRM MPD.

Regarding MKV, for some reason I can’t get it to work on Paramount+. I have it set in my settings but the video still downloads as MP4. Though if you get MKV to work, it seems like should be a safe alternative if your player supports it.

FYI, If you were replacing all the ffmpeg related files. I found you can just replace the ffmpeg.exe file. Currently all the dll files seem the same as ffmpeg v7. There was no problem remuxing or playing the video on my player.
