[FIX INSIDE] Disney + Videos unplayable since 7.0.15

I’ve been trying to download a few different Disney+ episodes of the 9-1-1 series and beginning with version 7.0.1.5 the output from StreamFab is unplayable. If I drop back to 7.0.1.4 everything is fine. By unplayable Media Info shows everything good (i.e. proper audio / video codecs, proper length, correct subtitles etc..) but when I play the video the screen is black with an occasional band of color across the top. I am pulling down H264 with EAC3 audio into MKV format. One other thing I notice is that while downloading the audio says AAC but the resulting file is actually EAC3 according to Mediainfo.

Some of the episodes I have tried are:

9-1-1 Season 9 Episode 12
9-1-1 Lone Star Season 5 Episode 12
9-1-1 Nashville Season 1 Episode 12

All do the same ting beginning with 7.0.1.5. I am in US East..

It looks like none of the three series are being offered by D+ itself in US ..
.. they are offered only with Hulu - so I personally can’t test there

I tried Lone Star.s05e12 with SF 7016 in Germany using H264 mkv(ffmpeg)
and can’t detect any problem

I did more extensive testing and can confirm the issue began with 7.0.1.5. I run StreamFab on 2 systems, my production system which has been running 7.0.1.5 / 7.0.1.6 and my backup system with is running 7.0.1.4. My original testing was across 2 systems with the backup 7.0.1.4 system working fine and the production system not. So I tried changing to MP4, changing audio formats and similar on the production system to no avail. So I downgraded the production system to 7.0.1.4 and the StreamFab downloads from Disney+ / Hulu began playing fine.

It isn’t a video player issue either because UniFab can’t read the downloads when I run 7.0.1.5 / 7.0.1.6. It crashes when I try to use it to make any modifications.

jbinkley60 I confirm this is happening for me as well using 7.0.16. I do have the D+ / Hulu combination, so I tried using Hulu to download them (which is what I normally do) and the file is playable.
I checked 9-1-1: Nashville both episodes 11 and 12 and 9-1-1 episode 12 with the same result.

Hulu+ files are playable, Disney+ are not (in VLC).

I actually use the Hulu module for any Hulu content. I had issues before trying through Disney+
One main issue was not being able to get 4K from Hulu titles in Disney+.
Now maybe that works now. My main downloads are Disney+ content and getting 4k.

Wonder what they did in 7015/7016 to cause that?

Agreed. I’m just going to stick with Hulu for their content. Fortunately, all D+ content downloaded from D+ is working fine.

If VLC can’t play it, then nobody can. It looks like that one of the photos might still have DRM embedded!

Have you tried downloading the same video again? Maybe it got corrupted.

Looking at the headers for the files that download, it looks like they have Codec ID: V_QUICKTIME and A_QUICKTIME instead of the correct Codec IDs for H264/H265 (e.g. V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC) or EAC3/AAC.
Changing the headers manually doesn’t fix the issue.

I got the same issue with the Disney+Hulu account.

It should be the DRM problem, the dev is checking it.

Wilson.Wang I’m getting error 10201 with the beta, and the previous beta (prior to the 7015) just sits “analysing” (seems to happen with 4K H&D+ via D+, regular FHD D+ seems fine)

Edit: spoke too soon- regular Hulu content downloading via D+ also gives error 10201

For 4K content, yes. But what of shows like in the OP, 9-1-1, does h265 work?
As I recall, it depended on what plan you had for awhile, that that stopped too.

[Edit] – I just validated this. There isn’t even a Codec choice on the actual download, but I can tell that a 4Gb file size on a show that normally gives 1.5Gb means it is probably h264.

My initial issue with H264 with EAC3 audio into an MKV format and the various 9-1-1 series’ is working fine now with Wilson’s latest test release. I haven’t checked other things yet.
