AppleTV Extremely Slow (Still)

Posted about this two months ago AppleTV can’t even be downloaded from as it would take hours to download anything Everything else works Apple does not. What am I doing wrong Nver got this resolved back in January.

Num1cboysfn Have you changed your DNS to use either Google or Cloudflare? If not, give that a try. Should be able to “configure Windows for CloudFlare DNS”. It made my ATV+ downloads faster.

But ATV+ does throttle their users frequently during peak usage times. That could be part of it - people are on spring break in the US.

Num1cboysfn and by “download,” I presume you mean actually download, not download—decrypt(process)—write-out-to-destination? If it’s the former, what’s the actual speed you’re getting as shown in the progress bar?

Thanks I’ll try but this has been going on since January so Spring Break usage shouldn’t be an issue. How do I change the DNS?

0xFeedBeef I can’t speak for the OP, but when ATV+ had that issue for me, it slowed down to under 50 KB/s and has dipped to nearly 0. Today I got over 40 MB/s, which has been pretty much normal since I switched my DNS.

I’m on 3 GB fiber hard wired with Cat 7, but limited by a 1 GB switch and network card. 10 GB hardware is expensive, still.

AnttDvdFab ATV is literally the only provider that comes close to saturating my 2.5Gbps fibre connection, yup, processing takes about 10 mins per title, but the actual download is fast… it’s got to be a network issue not an SF issue, otherwise there’d be a lot of people complaining…

I’d be happy if it were 10 mins I left on working one night over an hour and I finally stopped as it wasnt even a quarter of the way done

Getting 70mb/sec on 1GB connection, with 2.5GB router port, connected to 10GB switch.
US, no VPN. GoogleDNS. 4k dolby vision, dolby atmos serieis Dark Matter.

I am losing count on how many say it’s SF causing slow downloads from Apple TV.
Then lose count on how many say it’s fast.

So those with slow it’s not SF, or everyone would see it.
It’s something between the main incoming internet connection and the connection from outgoing Apple.
I still think many use a proxy or VPN, which are more likely to cause this.

In the past, many were fixed by changing the DNS used.
