Dear StreamFab Support Team,
I am writing to report a persistent and reproducible issue with downloading content from NOW TV using StreamFab. After extensive testing (well over 150–200 attempts), I can confidently confirm that this is not a configuration or system-related problem on my side, but rather a failure in the final processing stage of your software.
System specifications:
• OS: Windows 11 Home
• CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K
• RAM: 128 GB
• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER (also tested with GPU disabled, Intel iGPU only)
Problem description
StreamFab successfully completes the download phase, retrieving all video/audio segments (typically reaching 99% or near completion). However, during the “processing” (elaboration) phase, one of the following occurs:
- The program freezes indefinitely
- The program crashes without logs
- The task fails with errors such as error code 609
This behavior is consistent across:
• Single downloads
• Batch downloads
• Multiple episodes (280 total tested on the same series)
What I have already tested
I performed extensive troubleshooting, including:
• Using the latest version (V7.0.1.9), both online and offline installer
• Testing older versions (e.g. 7.0.0.2, 6.2.2.9)
• Lowering video resolution
• Changing audio settings (5.1 → stereo, etc.)
• Disabling NVIDIA GPU (forcing Intel iGPU)
• Disabling all post-processing options
• Running downloads one file at a time
• Reinstalling cleanly (including driver cleanup with DDU)
None of these actions changed the outcome.
Technical findings
When StreamFab crashes or stops during processing, it leaves behind temporary files in:
C:\Users\USER\Documents\StreamFab\StreamFab\Temp\outputTemp\NOW...
Inside these folders, I consistently find:
• Video_00 (hundreds of segments)
• Audio_00 (hundreds of segments)
• DrmCrash folder (present in multiple failed attempts)
I attempted to manually reconstruct the video using FFmpeg:
• Binary concatenation (copy /b)
• FFmpeg concat demuxer (ordered segment list)
• Direct mux with -fflags +genpts
All attempts fail with:
Invalid data found when processing input
Media players (e.g. MPC-HC) also report:
Media Type: Unknown
This strongly suggests that:
• The segments are not finalized streams
• They may still be encrypted or incomplete
• The failure occurs during DRM decryption and final muxing
Windows Event Viewer logs
The crash corresponds to:
• Application Error (ID 1000)
• Faulting application: QCef.exe
• Exception code: 0xc0000005
There are also:
• Application Hang (ID 1002)
• Windows Error Reporting entries
Conclusion
All evidence indicates that:
• Segment download completes successfully
• Failure occurs specifically in the final processing stage
• The issue is reproducible and not related to user configuration
• Temporary files are left in an unusable state (cannot be decoded externally)
Request
Could you please:
- Investigate the NOW TV module for issues related to DRM processing or muxing
- Confirm whether this is a known issue with the current version
- Provide a fix or workaround (if available)
- Advise whether a specific stable version exists for NOW TV compatibility
This issue prevents downloading an entire series (280 episodes), despite the download phase appearing to complete correctly.
I am available to provide:
• Logs
• Sample folders
• Additional screenshots or recordings
Thank you for your attention and I look forward to your prompt response.
Kind regards,
