When I wrote a UHD video recorded on a Blu-ray recorder to a new BD-RE disc
and read it using a BD drive connected to my PC via USB, the following behavior occurred,
and I was unable to rip it using Passkey.
I was able to rip HD videos normally using the same equipment and procedure.
[Behavior]
- Insert the BD-RE disc into the BD drive
- The BD drive operates, and the Passkey scan screen appears briefly in the lower right corner of the computer screen
- A message briefly appears saying “Uploading log files and disc information…”
- The scan screen appears again briefly
- The scan screen closes, and the BD drive stops operating.
No error messages appear, but the disc doesn’t mount, and ripping is impossible.
Note that the message “Uploading log files and disc information…” disappears instantly,
so I couldn’t examine it carefully; therefore, the message content may be incomplete.
Also, this message only appears the first time a BD-RE disc initialized with the recorder
is inserted into the BD drive.
The message doesn’t appear when the same disc is inserted again, but other operations
such as scanning are the same as the first time.
Passkey is the latest version, 9.4.7.8.
I have a perpetual license for Blu-ray & UHD, Blu-ray Recorder, and 4K Recorder,
so I believe there are no licensing issues.
Other equipment and software used are as follows:
CPU: 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-12700K (3.60 GHz)
OS: Windows 11 25H2
Blu-ray Recorder: SONY BDZ-FBT4200
Blu-ray Drive: LG BH16NS58 Firmware Version 1.00
The firmware version value of the BD drive was found in:
Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives > Properties of the relevant drive > Details > Hardware ID
The value is as follows:
USBSTOR\CdRomHL-DT-STBD-REBH16NS58_1.00
USBSTOR\CdRomHL-DT-STBD-REBH16NS58_
USBSTOR\CdRomHL-DT-ST
USBSTOR\HL-DT-STBD-REBH16NS58_1
HL-DT-STBD-REBH16NS58_1
USBSTOR\GenCdRom
GenCdRom
Since this BD drive and firmware version are listed as supported drives
on https://dvdfab.org/uhd-drive-tool.htm
I believe there is no problem with the BD drive.
Are there any problems with the procedure or anything else?
