Netflix lacking 1080 option, will this ever be fixed?

Guessing something changed on Netflix because as of a few months ago a lot of new titles seem to only have the highest resolution be 480p regardless of codec setting. Been reading around the web that it might be a known issue and I’m curious if A)thats true and B)is there any word on a fix to it? Kind of feels stupid that a movie from 10 years ago downloads at 1080 but a movie that just came out only downloads at 480.

Apart from Universal Movies (which are limited by NF to 540p since mid Oct 2023)
I can easily download 1080p from NF, even for new releases.
And of course, SF can’t dl anything better than what’s offered in Chromium.

The only thing that needs fixing is the lack of H264 High Profile support ..
.. and that has been the case for less than two weeks (not months).

Yeah if you look in the problem report only known issue is h264.

Although I had issues long time with h265, that’s why I strictly use av1.
If video is not in av1, which is rare, SF will fall back to whats available, usually h264.

I used Netflix for a long time and the only constant codec is av1. I get 1080p with most videos on Netflix.
As stated above the only other issues is Universal Movies in 480/540 the variation of 480/540 depends on player.
Using Plex via Roku most times it will say 540 but sometimes says 480.

So not sure why your only seeing them all only downloading at 480.
Maybe give the location you use and a few titles?
I only ever use Netflix in US. And never had a need fir VPN as that can cause problems in SF.

I still tell people with Netflix, try a video with Red Netflix wording, they are exclusive Netflix movies if they don’t come in 1080p resolution then there is a problem.
I also at least once a day or more use the clear temp folder option in SF.
Seems stuff can build up and cause issues in SF.

As of today, still downloading 1080p AV1 no issues. US, no ads account, no VPN, Google Dns.

Some day they will emulate whatever it is they do on Disney+ and others to get 4K. In the mean time though, 1080p is not a problem for most content.
One fix (sometimes) is to log out of your account and log back in. Others suggest flushing your cache folder, but I personally have never had that fix anything.
