Amazon Still Cancelling Prime Accounts?

A while back there were posts about Amazon cancelling people’s Prime Accounts for downloading videos. Is that still happening?

I haven’t download from Amazon since then for fear of being cancelled, but am wondering if it is fairly safe to start downloading again.

There forever will be a risk downloading from Amazon.
Many get away with doing it for many months. Others get caught.
There are far fewer reports now of banning, but many stopped downloading at all or do maybe 10-25 downloads per day max.
It will never be figured out why some can go day after day and never even get a warning and others get warnings and even bans.

I started again after a four-month break (with a suspended account)
and the account was verified, I ordered items and never used a VPN.
However, I also never watch anything online.

To minimize the risk, I haven’t booked any more channels and
probably most importantly: I haven’t rented/bought any videos.

My other account, which has never received a warning, always used a VPN
and is used almost daily in a different country,
has never received a warning to this day.
It only uses Prime Video included content.

Been downloading from Amazon without issue for 16 months now.

US, no VPN, UHD no ads PRIME account verified billing, GoogleDNS.

My particular strategy
a) watch a lot on PRIME; don’t just download all day long
b) don’t rent and rip (I did it once)
c) don’t constantly sign up for free trials under different emails
d) use legal verified payment, not anonymous payments
e) buy stuff from time to own forever
f) use a no-ads account - if you’re getting stuff to keep, why not pay a little more?
g) Don’t use anonymous locales, change IPs from month to month, etc.

None of this likely applies to you, but kinda common sense. If you act like a crook or hacker, they will probably notice.

Just create a burner account and use a prepaid card. Many people are doing that.

I don’t recall seeing “my account was cancelled” posts at all in 2026.

I had an account banned in January, but it was after I had subscribed to a Prime Channel. I think it was Paramount that I had subscribed to. Shortly after that I made a different account with a different email address and have been only downloading 10 - 20 episodes or movies in any given day and making sure to space them out throughout the day. That account has been totally fine for about 3 months now. So I’m just going to avoid buying any channels and keep to limiting my downloads and I think it will probably be fine.
