Hi,
I’m trying to author a new UHD disc by combining a disc I’ve ripped myself that is only available with HDR10, with the Dolby Vision RPU layer from the streamed version of the same video.
I have checked and the framerate and number of frames match perfectly, and when the RPU layer is injected in Profile 8 format, the result is a high bitrate MKV with a Dolby Vision layer that plays back correctly on my laptop. My goal is now to get this onto a disc.
I understand that the UHD format requires the Dolby Vision layer to be in either Profile 7 FEL or Profile 7 MEL, and since I only have an RPU, I converted the RPU to Profile 7 MEL.
I first tried interleaving the P7MEL into the base layer from the original UHD disc, after processing this “Dual layer single track” MKV file, DVDFab just ignored the Dolby Vision layer and output what was essentially my original UHD disc.
I then went back to the original base layer without the P7MEL interleaved and additionally created a blank 1080p video track, injected the P7MEL into that, then muxed this as a second video track directly below the 4K video track, creating a “Dual layer dual track” MKV file, which DVDFab again dropped, keeping just the 4K HDR10 base layer.
I then tried both of the above steps in an .m2ts container, but the results were the same.
Is this possible with DVDFab?
