We’re pleased to announce that DVDFab will add native UHD Blu-ray reading support for select Pioneer drives in an upcoming release.
This has been one of the most requested features from our community. Here’s a detailed overview of what to expect.
Pioneer Drive Compatibility
1⃣Direct Support — No Action Required
Models from the BDR-XD07, BDR-XS07, BDR-S12, BDR-S11, and BDR-211 series (specific model and firmware version combinations) will work with DVDFab out of the box. Simply connect the drive and start using UHD Blu-ray features.
2⃣Supported via Firmware Update
Certain Pioneer drives have UHD-capable hardware but require a firmware modification to enable LibreDrive. The updated UHD Drive Tool will automatically detect your drive configuration and guide you through the appropriate process:
- Firmware Downgrade — for drives where the current firmware version blocks LibreDrive access
- Firmware ID Change — for drives that need their firmware identifier switched to a compatible value
- Cross-Model Flash — for models that are not UHD-native but have a verified flash path to a UHD-capable configuration
UHD Drive Tool will identify the required action based on your drive’s model, firmware version, and firmware ID — no manual research needed.
The feature is currently in final development. A specific release date will be announced in a follow-up post. We will update this thread when the release is available.
