Crunchyroll is not downloading

After analyzing, all video resolutions are shown as “unavailable”, the subtitle drop menu only has “none”, and the option to extract subtitle to ASS is missing.

On 7.0.1.9, with a fresh account after downloading less than 10 videos, trying to play any videos display instead:
`We’re having trouble loading this video. Please be patient as we work to resolve the issue.

SF shows “Failed to open MPD/M3U8” on episode already in queue.
This appears ACROSS browsers, even in my regular browser, this is not a cache issue.

The pattern is: download ₁₀ videos, you get shadownbanned / rate-limited = all videos are blocked for x hours and then 1 video can be downloaded again and it immediately shadowban you again.
Not sure if it because I used throwaway email addresses or not but there maybe a limit to how many shadowban you get before an actual ban (= “Can’t Log In on This Device To troubleshoot, please contact Customer Support.” on login attempt) happens

EDIT: This seems to be some form of rate limiting.

… aaand it’s dead. Streamfab crash on Analysis for CR. I verified it on a clean install.

Streamfab is not avaible to download from Crunchyroll since many days/weeks … When do you fix this?!

Nobody can fix “it ain’t working for me” errors when that’s the ONLY description they get… 🙄

Wilson.Wang more or less works. It doesn’t crash but still rate limited after 13 ep DLs,… or more exactly I got rate limited within minutes, but some of the task i had the time to add in queue still downloaded properly. It maybe due to the way SF scrape all streams info ahead of time, but I haven’t been able to test more.

Can also for sure confirm that it is a rate limit for the pre scrap, just tested with the test build and it did manage to pop up the UI for things like episode selection, Though I noticed something strange. Not all the audio and subtitle options showed up this time (was mid download of a show when this all happened) So I suspect that the rate limit effectively made everything after a point drop. for example the JPN audio for a show that I know has it is not an option.

Have not tried the test build but it does seem to be related to the pre-scrap. For shows that have few episodes (like less than 12?) it still works fine. But if there are more it gets stuck.

If only there was a setting to not pre-scrap and only scrap the given link and or set the limit of how many episodes to scrap for a given time frame.

Writing to confirm that I have the same issue (downloading around 10-13 or so videos then encountering the rate limiting and KAT-6005 error described above where I’m locked out of downloading for a while). Like HoarderRelapsing said, the error persists even outside of Streamfab and across browsers once it triggers within Streamfab.

Just bought a StreamFab All-In-One (Lifetime) and everything else is working great and without a hitch except Crunchyroll, unfortunately. I see the devs are really great about posting updates, so just adding my voice to contribute visibility to this issue - especially since Crunchyroll was one of my biggest use cases in purchasing the All-In-One.

ethrealjunk you always need a log for anomalous/unexpected behavior; do you expect devs to sit there and keep trying various permutations until they get a result that looks (but may not necessarily be) like yours? C’mon, use a bit of common sense!

Well Soooorry… With that said I am not having this argument with you, I myself am a Networking Engineer, so I do understand.

With that all said, I do not know all the inner working of how Streamfab works, but if I may make a possible recommendation and or solution.

When a video is loaded only scrap the information of that particular video, and perhaps how many more episodes there are total, or just in that season, but not the details. This is assuming that in general the other episodes in the same season will probably have the same audio and subtitle languages and the like. So the user can set there preferences based on the first episode. Then as videos are downloaded one can use the rate limit setting in the Streamfab settings to hopefully wait out the Crunchyroll rate limit. Then scrap the episode information right before downloading one at a time.

Not sure if that will work, but there are my 2 cents.

Hi,

I can’t download any videos from Crunchyroll. I uninstalled Streamfab and installed the latest version, but every time I try to download a video, it says:

“Failed to obtain MPD/M3U8, please contact us for assistance.”

I have a lifetime license and a Crunchyroll subscription.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes It’s kinda broken right now, Crunchyroll seems to have applied rate limiting to metadata and track information… read up.^
