AppleTV Purchased Movies Subtitles

The purchased movie downloads for AppleTV are only downloading partial subtitles. The files are incomplete. This is happening with the latest version version 7.0.2.3 and was happening with the previous version as well.

mattblade this is a meaningless report: what movie, what form are you downloading subtitles in, what language?

I’ve just checked subtitles that got downloaded in vtt (extract original) as part of a tv series, they all seem fine on a quick look

Especially for someone that does not usually post in this forum, and only did so to help the developers solve the issue. If more details are needed, just ask. English SRT subtitles for any 4K movie have the issue, which means ALL movies subtitles are only partial files. They seem to end around 40 minutes into the file.

Subtitles work for me, on the stuff I download. But I’m only getting English (stuff as backup for when somebody speaks another language in the movie/show).

I disagree. People that post without providing any details and expecting someone to help is what makes forums suck. This happens nearly daily, and after months of that day in and day out the people who are on the forum trying to help get annoyed. Well, I definitely get annoyed.

AnttDvdFab I get that. But not everyone is a regular forum poster. So, what you do instead is chew the person up, when they try and participate and help solve a problem. Rather than helping them understand what is needed or required. And then the conversation devolves into arguments back and forth, rather than progressing to a solution. Just like this!!

It doesn’t matter how long I have been a member, it does not mean I sit here and read all these posts all the time. I only came here to report an issue. Can we focus on that, or will this continue like all forums do, with the know it all’s having to shame others?

For what it’s worth, the same is happening with VTT files, for any 4K movie downloads in English. I have not tried other languages.

Closed an relaunched is all that has been tried so far. Can reinstall if that is the suggestion.

Yes, you could try while waiting, clearing the temp folder, history, and cookies in SF.
Delete the SF cache folder. Last effort: uninstall and install the latest version again at:

Assuming it’s the Windows version.

do you still get partial subtitles if you output the file from mp4 to MKV ??
might also try changing from ffmpeg to MKVToolnix as your muxer.

I tried all steps, including complete uninstall and re-install with the same results. Interestingly though, if I download the 4K version of the movie, I get the partial subtitle file. But, if I download an SD version, the subtitles are complete.

I can use the sub file from the SD version, but there is definitely something up with the 4K download process for subtitles in my current version.

october262 I tried those settings with the same result. It is still only affecting 4K downloads. The workaround for now is to download the SD version and use those subtitles.
