YouTube Issues?

Anyone else having difficulties downloading from YouTube? I was trying to pull down a Sketch from SNL and it is just stuck in analyzing mode. To be fair, I tried several online YT downloaders and all of them failed. Perhaps YT changed something?

YouTube is working fine. in SF for me.
There has been no update to the main yt-dlp file since yt-dlp 2026.03.17

What I do is have several YT downloaders ones that let you change the version of yt-dlp, and they use the nightlies.
They are often more up-to-date. Nightly is at yt-dlp nightly 2026.04.30.234007.

Shoot, I wonder why my attempts are failing. Often with YouTube I have to pause and then restart to get out from the analyzing stage. A few minutes ago I was able to easily download a short from YT using an online service. But the URL for that SNL clip doesn’t want to show up.

I saw that you used AV1 instead of H264. I made that change and it appeared to download. Now it didn’t play in the Legacy Windows Media Player, but it played just fine in a couple of other players. Thanks for posting your results, I will remember to try different codecs when things are stuck analyzing.

you really ought to be using the “Movies & TV” or “Films & TV” or whatever it’s called in your locale App as it uses native hardware decoding and fallback to software, and has better subs support 😉
