I just purchased StreamFab All-In-One and need guidance for some settings. Is there a help file that explains the choices (and the impact of said choices)? I am on Windows 11 for downloading. I then use TinyMediaManager to get the thumbnail image and .nfo file, then I put the files onto my Jellyfin server so I can stream it inside my house. I also have MKVToolNix, Handbreak, and some other apps to mess with the MKV files.
Here are my specific items to understand…
Item 1:
In “General - Preferred Settings”, I have selected MKV for the video format. That is what I want.
- Can somebody explain the video format choices in VIP-Preferred Settings?
- Does it override the General settings?
- I have both FFmpeg and MKVToolNix on my PC, but I don’t understand the impact of which MKV selection to use.
- Since I assume I will select one of the 2 MKV choices, do I need to concern myself with the checkbox to “Enable FFmpeg fast start option when downloading to MP4”
- My understanding is that MKV is merely a package container of video, audio, subtitle, and other types of tags. Thus the video inside the MKV may be MP4. So, just asking again if i need to pay attention to that checkbox.
Item 2:
I tested by downloading an Outlander episode off Starz. The resulting file did not have any chapter markers, but it had a “Global” tag.
- Can somebody explain this Global tag. I used MKVToolNix to get rid of it, but I’d like to understand why it was there and what it means/does.
- Do some streaming services give chapters while others don’t?
- I was debating to add Chapter markers every 5 min if there aren’t any in the download. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to do this?
Thanks for any help.
