Audio codec upgrade mid-series (AAC -> AAC+Dolby Digital)

@Wilson.Wang, I just did my testing with this new version on Shark Tank and The Floor.

100 + episodes is resolved.
SD content is now able to analyse, but not download. (failed to obtain decryption key, please contact us for assistance)

And the only issue for HD content still, is the audio codec selection option is not available when the show have SD content mixed with HD content in different seasons.

For example:
Season 1 is SD and only have one audio, AAC. So all good here.
Season 17 is HD and have both AAC and AC3. And the issue is here.

I can’t select the audio option because its locked to AAC due to the first seasons being in SD with only AAC, it will always download as 1080p and AAC audio even when he have AC3 as option, but blocked.
If i try the same episode as a movie (the direct link of the episode) I have the option to download it with AC3 audio.

Also, I tested with a show with all episodes in HD, and here, the option to download the 1080p video with AC3 audio is working because I can select the audio codec. The only issue, is when we have shows with mixed of SD and HD content.

Is it possible to fix this last part?

XpTo I would definitely second this. For example, the original Law & Order gets Dolby Digital (AC-3) at season 16 starting with the first episode; prior to that only AAC (all seasons are FHD btw, so not limited to SD content)…

@Wilson.Wang just tested the new version (7.0.2.6) and the Apple TV part, just have the fix you guys added on early this week beta right nothing new fixed?

The issue that I reported and @0xFeedBeef confirmed as well, is still present.

Any purchased tv show that started on first seasons as SD content with only AAC audio, and later on during the next seasons upgraded to HD and AAC + AC3 Dolby Digital audio, still have issues.

Examples tested today on Shark Tank, but for sure, its the same for Law & Order:

Season 1 (SD and AAC only): does not start downloading. Error: failed to obtain decryption key, please contact us for assistance.

Season 17 (HD and AAC + AC3 Dolby Digital audio): downloads just fine as 1080p but, with AAC audio, because we couldn’t change the audio to AC3 Dolby Digital audio.

If i try the same episode as movie (direct link to the episode and not the show) I can download just fine with 1080p plus AC3 Dolby Digital.

Let us know if you have a new beta version we could use to test it out, and help you guys out, for next versions.

XpTo he was asking for a log for the downloads that are still failing for you for SD

The audio “regrade” is a different matter; there are three ways of tackling it basically:

present all capable options (but then have users whinge that wrong audio is downloaded when their choice isn’t available);
analyse the last episode of the last available season instead of the first episode of the first season (which is essentially the purpose of numerous AMZN hacks here); or
present the user with all available downloads first, and then allow the user to choose what to analyse (requires a re-write/re-organisation of code).

And those are not limited to ATV, but all modules 🤷‍♂️

Here it is.

Tested on episode 1 of season 1 of Shark Tank, that is a SD content with only the AAC audio.
The SD content with “failed to obtain decryption key, please contact us for assistance” is probably easier to fix.

The audio selector thing may be more complex to fix, so I can wait for the solution, no rush.

Let me know, when we could test a new beta.

Hello @Wilson.Wang any update on Apple TV module for purchase content?

I tested this issue with Shark Tank, and 0xFeedBeef tested it with Law & Order. Both shows originally had AAC audio only, but were upgraded to AAC + Dolby Digital in newer seasons.

The main issue is that any show that started as SD with AAC and was upgraded mid-series to HD with AC-3 still only allows downloads in HD with AAC. There is no option to download the AC-3 audio for these shows.

Furthermore, the SD content still displays the following error message: “Failed to obtain the decryption key, please contact us for assistance.”

Could you take a look at this when you have a chance?
