Cannot download all languages and subtitles under line

So I’m trying to download Lovely Runner before it leaves NF on 31 May. I have no problems downloading the following audio tracks below

but I cannot download the audio tracks below the line in the screenshot below

Is there a way to download the audio tracks I see on my browser? The same goes for subtitles below the line. I figured I have to select the audio and subtitle track below the line separately on my regular browser or I couldn’t download those tracks at all.

I can’t test Mac version ..
.. but SF offer only what is auto loaded by NF -> see (in this case subs) here

With Win I get all 9 audio languages - but this depends from your used country:

Just a small update, as I found a workaround this morning for cases where not all of the audio languages I want were available in the analysis.

I created a second Netflix profile and chose a different set of preferred languages during setup. When I analyzed the same title in SF with that profile, there was a different selection of audio and subtitle tracks available. It still seemed somewhat random, but in my case the languages that had been missing before were now there.

I downloaded the title twice with the two profiles, selecting only the additional tracks I needed on the second pass, then combined the results with a small Python script using MKVToolNix. It pairs the matching episodes, keeps a single video stream, adds the additional audio tracks to the MKV, and collects the subtitle sidecars from both downloads. If you use embedded subtitles instead, the script could just mux those into the MKV.

Separately, if you already have all the audio languages you need and are only missing some subtitle languages, the script workaround suggested to me by @Germania above works perfectly for that too.

I’m having an issue with Netflix where, for certain titles, StreamFab does not detect all of the subtitle languages that are available in the Netflix app or browser.

This is on Mac, although it may well be a cross-platform issue. I have tried it with both the Intel/Rosetta version 7.0.3.1 and the Apple Silicon beta 7.0.3.3.

As shown in the screenshot, German is currently missing, along with some other subtitle languages. When I first noticed this issue about a week ago on the same episode, Italian was missing, but German was detected. So the subtitle languages that StreamFab misses seem to change.

The issue only affects subtitles. Changing the codec selection does not solve it, and the audio tracks are all detected correctly.

I would be grateful for any advice on what else to try.

I can’t test SF for Mac
and I don’t know in which country you tried ..
.. because it depends on the country being used.

In Germany I can select de subs ..
.. but e.g. es+it is not offered there

btw: If you play the epi and select a desired language
SF add this after re-analysing - e.g. now italian offered

But this works only with one additional sub ..

Your workaround might work for me as well… As StreamFab already lists most of the subtitles I want, i.e. English, Spanish, Spanish (LatAm), Italian and French, I could then try to swap Ukrainian for German by selecting German in the player and re-analysing. I may have no control over which language is dropped though.

The only problem is: would I have to do that 171 times, i.e. once for each episode?

I also looked at the link you gave. I installed the script mentioned there and, when I set the Netflix locale to Germany, I am able to get the German subtitles. But then another language drops off, as I guess for Seinfeld only six subtitle tracks are pre-loaded by Netflix.. With The King of Queens it’s seven for example.

If all else fails I could just download the German subtitles using the script and merge them with MKVToolNix, but of course it would be great to not have to do that.

Should I maybe still file this as a bug report? Maybe StreamFab could try to force-load the chosen subtitle languages from the SF preferences. I originally thought that was what that setting was for.

On a side note: I can’t quite understand how the script is able to extract WebVTT subtitles with proper positioning when Netflix itself seems to be serving me only SRT files in the app/browser.

NF don’t offer srt - you can get vtt with SF
if you use Subtitle Action “Extract Original”

If you need so many subtitles you can use the script ..
.. only two clicks and I get 1050 subtitles (but no es in de) => here

auto loaded by NF and include it in the analysis (in my case it) ..
.. then you can select/download 171 episodes with the same subtitle choice

I was not aware that Netflix also serves WebVTT subtitles. I thought they were mainly XML-based timed text, so I guess you learn something new every day. 😃

The script really seems to be the better route for grabbing all the subtitle tracks I need. I was also able to get the Spanish subtitles by changing the locale.

I think you’re right that this is not really a StreamFab bug, but a Netflix limitation. Maybe it could be a SF feature request, but actually being able to do it with a script like that is perfect for me.

Unfortunately, I can’t do that as I always get Error Code 100… I’ve never been able to play anything in NF, I can only analyze…

I now seem to get either Error 100 or Error M7701-1003 whenever I try to play a NF video from within SF. The latter says:

Please visit chrome://settings/content/protectedContent and make sure “Sites can play protected content” is selected.

I just don’t understand why I’m running into this problem…

Also, I feel like I’m starting to hog two different threads now, so apologies if that’s frowned upon here. 😁
