Paramount plus subtitle are be downloaded as Webvtt. Is there any reason for this. It use to download them as .srt files. Plex doenst like Wedvtt.

because that’s how they’re supplied by Paramount+ and instead of selecting .SRT, you selected “Extract Original Format” 🤷‍♂️

The fact that mkvmerge doesn’t convert WebVTT into SRT (ie remove positional info and other stuff) when muxing into mkv is MKV Toolchain’s problem.

I have this setting. Are you saying i need to choose extract to srt. If i do that then I have to remux them.

no it would remux them with an .srt in the mkv files. this just started happing recently.

AFAIK, Para+ never provided SRT as they’re far inferior and web browsers only support WebVTT natively (if you want to see the advantage, watch the pilot of the Simpsons on D+, for example).

Also, if you’ve always been remuxing them into mkv, you can’t know that .srt files were being downloaded 🙄

I can only confirm that Extract to SRT results in WebVTT
with wrong extension .srt (unchanged .ttml)
same with mp4 using ffmpeg - in log I see for sub:
[remuxDownloadedFiles] File type based on extension: “UNKNOWN”

ccextractor.exe + \scripts\paramount_subtitle_trans.py are unchanged

It’s been since the login error fix in SF 7031
=> SF 7030 converts Subtitles correct to srt
(without formatting as always that’s why I prefer original)

.. only old releases are not affected
e.g. The Agency.s01e01 is okay with 7031, but s02e01 not

Germania do the subtitles get extracted ok to .vtt when para+ provide them in iso 14496-30 format? (Don’t have para+ atm to try it out)

With Extract Original - it looks okay

But the formatting contained in text/vtt source (s01) e.g. italic < i >
is missing from wvtt source (s02)

With SF 7037 Extract Original and Extract to SRT work flawlessly:

I am not much for forced subtitles, but I get no choice for forced subs on The Agency.s02e01.
Only the one choice English which gives full subs,

SF keeps analyzing S01E01, is there a way to get it to analyze S02E01.

Also why does. SF still have the stupid option of always download forced subs. It does not work, and other times even with it off SF insists on downloading forced subs,

It behaves differently in the US (with a US account) than in DE (INTL) ..
.. “Watch S2 E1” and “Resume S2 E1” both lead
to the same analysis and pre-selection of s01e01.

In Germany I just need to access s02e01 and analyze it manually:
