I really don’t get why some bother to put files on a USB and then try to play them.
I can also understand not wanting to pay for Plex and its server setup.
There is still some that can be done on Plex for free, and they have an app for smart TVs and streaming devices.
But Jellyfin is free; the app is available for smart TVs and just about any streaming device.
You install the main software on a PC and tell it what movies. TV shows, etc. you have, and they can all be attached to a PC via internal or external hard drives. Even after losing a hard drive, I still have close to 24TB of (combined) storage attached to my PC.
You then can play through the internet from your computer to your devices with the apps.
If you check Reddit and elsewhere, there are many with double to even triple the storage I have.
You have to know that there could be a different codec involved in the files not playing.
Netflix is unreliable anyway, as at times you get AV1, other times you get h264, and other times some other codec.
That’s why so many use Plex or Jellyfin, as they can make them playable on any device. I can’t recommend Emby; as last I knew, it looked like a copy of Jellyfin, but they charge you a yearly fee.
Some have even managed to use Kodi, but I know there is no app for Roku for that. Otherwise, there is an app for Google Stream devices and FireTV.
I also say too that this in the end is NOT a StreamFab problem; maybe a general video tech forum or check Reddit for help.
I think in the end I might have repeated stuff simchris said, and I don’t know if there will be anyone that can help here.
Also, a title of Locked Threads doesn’t bring users to help. You were told before to give more info and then did not.
Even at that, I don’t feel this is something we as StreamFab users should be helping with.
As I can’t find a file downloaded by Streamfab that does not play through Plex to my Roku or the Plex app on my smart TV. (Same with trying through Jellyfin)
And it’s not StreamFab. You need, like I said, more advanced tech help to advise you of other ways to play the files if you refuse to use Plex or Jellyfin.
Also, even we with titles are human and make mistakes; the other topic was closed by mistake. But now it’s closed for sure, as you made another topic.
