[7041] Paramount failing to obtain decryption key for UHD

23 July 2026:
With the exception of S01E04, I succeed in downloading Fire Country S01 and S02 in their entirety from Paramount+. S01E04 was the first occurrence of the dreaded “Failed to obtain the decryption key, please contact us for assistance.” S03 threw the same error for E07-E20. S04 failed completely with the same error. All of this was with v7.0.4.0 with download settings H265, Resolution 3840×2160, EAC3, English with English subtitles.
Even after I updated to v7.0.4.1, I was unable to record any of the missing episodes at any resolution, not just the highest. So, I gave up for the night hoping for fix

24 July 2026:
I tried recording the missing episodes and Sheriff Country S01 tonight. I achieved the same lack of joy as yesterday. Seeing the previous thread about this error was closed (apologies for providing insufficient information last night), I opened this thread with today’s error log (attached), a screen shot of the error messages for Sheriff Country, and the About pop-up to confirm I’m running v7.0.4.1.

I’ll be grateful for any information or assistance getting past this problem. MTIA.

The United States, Pennsylvania. No VPN.
Just to get something to view I succeeded recording Sheriff Country S01 using H264 with the highest available resolution instead of H265. All other settings were the same.

john.m.splain do you have premium subs? My stateside account glitches occasionally, but not that badly. Have you tried logging out and logging back in to reset the account cookie?

I have the Essential, not Premium, subscription.
I signed out and back in again just now. Attempted recording with the settings I shared in my first post of Sheriff Country returned the same error, “Failed to obtain the decryption key, please contact us for assistance.”

Wilson.Wang In the test version, Chrome browser is used, and Paramount+ does not verify the account subscription plan strictly, so we can get the all of 1080p/4K MPD manifests stream via the Chrome Browser, but we can not get the 4K content key in this way.

To full support to the 4K download, we have to use another way, but we can get H264 1080p MPD manifests only from Paramount+ with the Basic account, and get the Full H265 4K MPD manifests with the Premium account.

The download quality is based the Paramount+ plan, like Netflix…

Please upgrade to Paramount+ Premium plan first if you want to download the H265 or 4K video quality.
