SF 7041 / Fandango "Watch for Free" Downloads

Has anyone else noticed that recently Fandango’s free downloads are no longer in HDX? Do we know if it’s a site change or a SF oversight?

BradYonder No idea what you’re on about (and you don’t provide specifics)—I got Columbo (New) the other day with 7041 and all of it came through as HDX without a problem… 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately, I just checked like 5 to 7 movies, (7041) and the best I could get was 853×480.
I know I could never get the free to watch in 4K.

I will have to go back and see what I used to get on the free-with-ads or free to watch movies.

ADDED the best I could get is in the screenshot.

I was in the past able to do 1920×1080.

ADDED #2 this movie I DID get 1920×1080; now this is all I get.

ALL tests are done on 7041. Might see about going back some versions.

ADDED 7017 can do 1920×1080 but gives me a notice to try 7023.

7023 works (1920×1080); I’m not sure how many versions I need to try …

I did try 7040, and that also works (1920×1080), so something is wrong with 7041.

I can’t imagine it’s any issue on my end if it works in 7040 vx 7041.

And I just logged into Fandango today.

I guess I could try to do some cleaning and see.

Stan001 I can’t see what would be different between mine and your 7041… unless my installing each release to a separate folder makes that much of a difference…

I also noticed your audio is lower bitrate than mine

Yeah, I don’t know. Can’t get it to work in 7041, and I have 7041 in a folder called StreamFab and 7040 in a folder called StreamFab7040. And 7040 gives 1920×1080 fine. I even just uninstalled and installed 7041 again, and it’s the same.

So I guess we are both lost.

This was all done with a full cleanup of cache, temp folders, etc. And uninstall and reinstall of 7041.
So I noted now if I want Fandango free to watch, I use 7040.
Not much more I can do, as I’ve already been using a different DNS, Cloudflare.

I guess if I have time, I can try CiscoDNS (AKA OpenDNS). [I am not a fan fo trying Google DNS; I feel they spy like Comcast/Xfinity via DNS.]

I almost always have auto on. Turned it off and tried, and it was the same thing.

I will just have to stick with 7040 for Fandango.
Maybe I can VPN to another location in US?
This all is without VPN in US.

YEAH, I JUST FIGURED IT OUT. 7040 LETS ME USE H.265 OR HDR10 AND ANALYZES FINE.

7041 I need to have H.264. Not sure why, and I did see I got H.264 files in the past even with H.265 picked.

So the change they made did something.

I guess from now on, just use H264??

Stan001 that’s just the default, you can change it to H.265 for purchased UHD when the analysis box comes up…
