Captain America - Brave New World

Hi,
Does anyone have any issue with backing up or copying the Blu-ray disc Captain America - Brave New World? I tried both old and latest version of DVDFab and it either reports read error and creates bad copy or just hangs while analyzing the disc.
I was trying to back up the main movie only.
The disc is new, I don’t see any visible scratches and/or marks on the surface.
I tried reading it on 3 different computers with the same problem.

vbcomer Please send us the dvdfab13.log file so we can check the movie version and determine if the issue is with the disc protection or the disc itself.

To submit: go to DVDFab → Menu → Feedback — the log will be attached automatically, and a ticket will be created. You can also send it to us directly.

Did you try when other issues pop up they say disable path player?

Stan001 Can you elaborate on this? I am not familiar with disabling path player as you mentioned above. Thx.

Under common settings with DVDFab 13, it’s DVD, PathPlayer, and choose disable.
Click ok and try. If not, you will need to wait for Mona or another DVDFAB person.
I only use it once in a while, and I know many have had to disable it.

Mona would be able to say if it’s an issue with that Blu-ray or not.

You might want to include a dvdfab13.log?

Also, the settins it will tell you the location of logs.

I disabled path player under DVD settings as suggested by Stan and the app didn’t hang any more. However, during copying, it reported something like “got a read error” then “fix to normal”…

In the end, it said “bad sectors were skipped” and it did produce a playable m2ts file. I am making a mp4 and will come back to report the result.

@Mona, I submitted a feedback on this, even though the app appeared to work now. My comment is: in future version, if you guys can make the app automatically “disable path player” when multiple read failures are detected then it would be great. You know, don’t make it permanent, just make the app temporarily turn off the path player on its own if it encounters issues like this.

As stated above, I attempted to convert/rip the m2ts file to mp4. Both Ripper and Converter failed. Ripper would process normally until around 25%, 26% when it slowed down considerably. Then at 27% it suddenly said “process completed successfully”, and just stopped. The resulting mp4 file was only 3GB (I chosed the settings that would have produced a 12GB mp4 file) and 27 minutes. It was playable, just that it wasn’t a complete movie. I did confirm “split” was not set.
I installed Unifab latest version in hope that it would work, but it didn’t. Converter would stop a few seconds in, it didn’t produce any output file. It just said “FAILED”.

I was using DVDFab 13 and UniFab 13. Both just downloaded yesterday.

I submitted feedbacks from both apps after each failed process.

I tried DVDFab 11 yesterday to rip the m2ts file (from DVDFab 13, described above) and it successfully produced a mp4 file. I chose the highest setting so the resulting mp4 file was 6.5GB, and it was playable. Unlike the 3GB version which was incomplete (only 27 minutes of the movie), this 6.5GB has the entire movie of 1 hour 58 minutes.

I decided to try DVDFab 12’s Ripper, using the highest setting for 12GB. Similar to DVDFab 13, at around 25%, it slowed down, and the “time left” climbed from 37 mins to (after 1.5 hours running) 16 hours and counting. The percentage done was 34% at this moment of posting this mesage.

Update: I had to abandon the above process since the “time left” climbed to 40 hours and showed no sign of stopping while the percentage done only went up to around 35%.

I switched to DVDFab 12’s Converter and it successfully created a 15GB mp4 movie file, playable and full length of 1h:58m.

So, at this time, it seems the Ripper feature is broken on version 12. On version 13, both Ripper and Converter don’t work.

vbcomer In DVDFab 12 or DVDFab 13, please disable GPU hardware acceleration in the Settings panel to rip the movie again and see the result.
