[ROMANIA] x265 not available in Skyshowtime

To provide some context, I haven’t been able to use the x265 module yet because I was having these issues mentioned here, since my account is from Romania (this has been fixed in 7.0.4.2): https://forum.dvdfab.cn/d/472685-failure-analyzing-this-video/19

I tried downloading something to see what bitrate Skyshowtime offers in x265, but the first thing I noticed is that I can’t download anything in x265. From what I’ve seen on https://forum.dvdfab.cn/d/472540-h265-support/5, it might be because my account doesn’t have the premium plan, since x265 is only available on 4K MPD, but if I do have the premium plan, then… what could be going on?

I’ve attached the logs.
Procedure: I installed 7.0.4.2 from scratch, logged into Skyshowtime, and downloaded the movie Black Phone 2, which apparently uses the x265 codec according to this thread https://forum.dvdfab.cn/d/472540-h265-support/5, but it doesn’t show x265.

But the MPD file in your log does not contain H265

just a point of clarification:
x265 is an encoding software https://www.x265.org/, while
H.265 is the ITU codec spec https://www.itu.int/rec/t-rec-h.265.

I can’t test it myself at the moment ..
.. but apparently it was working until recently.

djhanje is probably right about that ..
.. that there was a change on the provider’s end.
In that case, the country likely doesn’t matter.

i have skyshowtime premium and since the 4th august i don’t get no x256 option annymore to download in 4K,
i think skyshowtime have changed something.
i’ll try this week again, did some movies in my waitlist in 4K that now downloaded in 1080i format.
star trek S04E02 wass in 1080i as download, sunday i put it in 4K in the waitlist.
so i think skyshowtime has changed something again.
before sunday i did get 4K with no problem for movies and shows.

correct, issue is undependend on the coutry… Lioness S03 E01 is offered in 4K (H265), but SF is not detecting the stream… probably due to recent issue with the playready…

The current PlayReady issue should only
affect the failure to receive the key ..
.. not the lack of a download source
(which is the case with other providers as well)

In my case, I’m still having the same problem. I’ve analyzed “Black Phone 2” and other movies and TV shows, but x265 doesn’t appear as a selectable codec.

Clean install with geek.

How many more times are you going to write that here and in Beta topic?
.. why would a more up-to-date browser find more formats than before?

x265 as @Ragnarocek shows it works; so perhaps it’s a question of locale/subscription?..
