Not Deleting Temp Files

DVDFab v8.0.0.5 XPPro Sp3 US ImgBurn v2.5.1.0

8.0.0.5 not deleting temp files in Clone Mode. Common Settings -> General set to 'Delete Temporary Files When Done'. Also set to 'Create Files in Subfolders...' and 'Ask Before Overwriting....'. Don't use Clone that often, but did three times in succession; each time the temp .iso file and the layer break .ini created during Clone were not deleted. Reinstalled 8.0.0.5 before last clone with no fix. Archived two features with Customize Mode and temp files were deleted correctly.

Burning with ImgBurn called from DVDFab.

DVD -> DVD working flawlessly otherwise for me.

Anybody else?

iso files are not deleted as they are saved in the iso folder if you not change the default save location. Check the temp folder to see if any dvds you have done are there as that where they saved before deletion. If you select iso file then they are not deleted but rather saved but the dvd files that are createde before the iso are stored in the temp folder and deleted after the iso is created

In this case the target is not a file, it is another optical drive with the blank DVD5/9. I am directly creating the burned copy by having DVDFab call ImgBurn. The dvd created is OK; that is not an issue.

DVDFab is leaving the .iso that it creates during the Clone process in the Temp folder. Prior to this version it would be deleted if that was the chosen option under General Settings...."Delete temporary files when done".

DVDFab names the .iso with the volume name of the original dvd, i.e. GONE_WITH_THE_WIND.iso. Interestingly, DVDFab prompts to delete the prior file it created when the next clone operation is started, even though the new temp file would have a different name. There is an option in Settings to "Ask before overwriting the same file". DVDFab asks to overwrite the previous file even though it has a different name.

Have used this mode since day-one of DVDFab; it would always delete the temp file unless the Settings option was unchecked or you actually chose to output an .iso for future burning.

This is not a major problem; just deviates from the chosen Settings option.

I think you are looking at wrong direction. It's not DVDFab, but ImgBurn creates ISO. It's not DVDFab, but ImgBurn leaving temps and not deleting them... check with ImgBurn settings and select delete temps.

Exactly and I should have realized that when mentioned ImgBurn as the burn engine. Guess having a hard day at work makes you miss a few details

Ok. Not to be argumentative....When I choose to output an .iso file in Full Disk Mode for example, after DVDFab processes the source ImgBurn is launched and it creates the .iso file. But when using Clone and the target is a blank dvd in a second optical drive (dvd -> dvd), it appears that DVDFab reads and decrypts the source and then launches ImgBurn to burn the new disk without ImgBurn first creating the 'iso before burning. I assume that the .iso already exists and that it was created by DVDFab. It is located in the temp directory as chosen under DVDFab Settings.

Maybe DVDFab passes the 'delete temp files' function call to ImgBurn but I doubt it. It would likely delete them when ImgBurn is finished and returns control back to DVDFab.

It doesn't look to me when watching the dvd -> dvd Clone process that ImgBurn is creating the temp .iso.

How does Fab create .iso files when vso is the burn engine and ImgBurn isn't installed?

BTW....

If you start a dvd -> dvd Clone, then cancel the process after a few seconds, you'll find the source .iso in the path to your temp files....Drive:\path....temp\clone\. DVDFab is creating the .iso for burning, not ImgBurn. I agree that ImgBurn creates the .iso files if you choose a file as the target, but not if the target is a blank disk.

You'll have to insert a blank in the target drive prior to starting the Clone process since Fab checks to see if it is the proper density.

I've always wondered why ImgBurn was called to produce an .iso if file output was the target; why not have Fab create the file directly?

In any case, for some reason these temp .iso files are no longer being automatically deleted by Fab after the burn. The world won't end tomorrow if this isn't addressed. Just being picky.

DVDFab DOES NOT create ISO! Period!
DVDFab is removing protection, encoding, decoding, transcoding, and othjerwise tempering with the content, but NOT creating ISO. DVDFab output is folder (I.e. BDMV or VIDEO_TS) or file (i.e. .avi,.mkv, .wmv).
A "subcontractor" does ISO and burning job for DVDFab (there a three of them: VSO, Nero or ImgBurn - your choice).
In your case, when DVDFab created the content it handed it to ImgBurn to finish the job... According to you, the only flaw in this process is that ImgBurn didn't send you a telegram... well, I can offer you a hug instead.
Yes, creating an ISO is a part of "subcontractor's" job. If you open ImgBurn log file you will see it somewhere in a middle of log, in capital letters.
DVDFab offering its temp directory as a part of "paring" process.
And if you would follow my instructions, go to ImgBurn settings and make changes there instead of arguing, you would have it fixed by now.

For me, the DVDFab delete temp files option is working ok with 7.5.0.6 Clone mode; not so with 8.0.0.5. Can't say about 8.0.0.2 or 8.0.0.3; didn't use Clone with those betas.

Time to move on; won't bother with this again.

Yes - using 8.0.0.5

Use clone mode frequently. 1st use a day ago for a couple of anime DVDs produced a message that the clone folder / .iso were present, do I want to overwrite? Checked the folder contents and it was the previous DVD I had cloned. Before 8.0.0.5 this would have been cleaned up / deleted when clicking the Finish button.

No big deal, just wanted to confirm and 2nd Cinncinatti Kid's experience.
