Hopefully that is it now, just checked windows update and there was another new optional update for MSE, have downloaded it from THERE this time, double checked on MSE it did update and it did.
Hi 90312
My post was not directed toward you specifically my friend, if this is how you took it, please accept my apologies and I'm sorry.
I would never direct any comments toward you unless forum policies are broken, and you have never done so, you are a huge asset to this forum.

It's the general chat thread, anything except politics and religion
This is true, but I also believe that this thread should not go on for months=years.

90312,
Thank you so much for your help, think that may be the problem.
I have had and use windows update for years, always check it first when I log on in the mornings, since installing MSE it often comes up with an optional update for MSE and up until now I have gone to MSE and installed it manually from there rather than through windows update, then check update again and all is okay, I am now guessing I should always update MSE through windows update, especially as all my settings IN MSE seem okay.
Thanks again so much.
GregiBoy, give me a break Mate, the ONLY reason I am doing this is because McAfee interfered so much with DVD Fab, and I was told it was okay in this forum.
I was talking about the Windows Automatic Update Service. I have it running on an XP laptop, W7 Pro desktop and a W7 starter netbook and haven't had a single issue so I guess I'm out of ideas

Okay, thanks, but this is driving me nuts.
Now the next morning here Downunder, just turned on the computer, everything indicating okay.
Checked windows update as I do every morning and it said just an optional update to MSE, so I look at MSE and it has not automatically updated so I selected it to manually update which it did, I then did a quick scan with the new definitions and when it finished it said scan completed on ****** items and nothing found, in the SAME message it says you have not done a scan for a while, even though it just finished one.
I have just gone over all the settings again and can not see what is wrong.
Well MSE requires that the Automatic Update service be running and started, if not you could this up to several times a day.

90312,
I do not expect you will be able to help, but just to let you know, something is still wrong, IF you never have any trouble it must be in my setup somehow.
I did as you said this morning (my time), manually updated it, then did a full scan, then left it alone, however now about 11 hours later it went orange again, said about I haven't done a scan for some time.
I selected to do a scan, then I cancelled it as I thought I may as well update it which I did, then selected to scan and it started to do a full scan (and still orange), I cancelled the full scan as I just wanted to do a quick scan IF that would do, and now it is happy gone green, without me actually doing a scan.
Thank you, you are not upsetting me, I wanted your advice.
As I said before I was doing manual updates and scans just to make sure, however I see your point, you leave it alone altogether unless it goes orange.
I will do another manual update, then a full scan, then leave it alone, see what happens.
Just one thought pal, do a full scan like it says then leave it alone for a few days. It will update itself daily and let you know when you need to scan. I don't mean to be abrupt but it really takes care of itself.
