I have 'archive' videos I store at relatively high quality (4000Kbps) which I'd like to copy to a PVP. The archives are stored at what I believe is their native resolution (720x500 or so-the values vary slightly). They play great on my computer & TV but poorly on my PVP-and the files are so large that I can only put a few hours of video on it, not enough for a multi-day trip.
So, for the PVP, I want to copy the archive videos from 720xwhatever to less than 640x480 and lower the bitrate to probably 800Kbps. The archives are stored as .avi using the H.264 codec. As far as I can tell DVD Ripper doesn't copy .avi videos, it only outputs them. The same is true for DVD Copy. My trial of Video Converter has expired (and I don't even remember trying it-must have been when it first came out) but from reading about it I don't think it will do this either. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.
