Other DVD 5 to a DVD 9..better quality?

If I change a DVD 5 to a DVD 9...will this improve the quality of the contents of the DVD?

No you'll just waste one layer of the dual layer DVD-9 disc.

Then why does DVD Fab have this feature?

I've never seen that feature, can you be more specific please. Is it DVD Copy or Ripper or what?

It's DVD Copy 8. Thanks for your answers so far.

Oh if you mean opening a single layer disc and the selecting DVD-9 in the output quality box, that won't change anything. There won't be any compression either way and the file size will be the same.

If the original DVD is a retail dual layer DVD then the quality will be better if backed up to a DVD9 than a DVD5. I think that's what you were asking, right?

                Better DVD quality?

The original DVD is a standard "5" DVD. So it sounds like even if I do make it a 9, it won't change anything for a better picture. I guess once a 5 always a 5? Thank you for you answers.

You are stuck with the original authoring on the disc. DVDFab can't upscale it.
