If the clone function is performed using my original 3D bluray (The Avengers in this case), will I be able to play this back on my Playstation 3 or will copy protection prevent this? I'm confused in reading all of the postings regarding Cinavia protection and using a PS3 to play back. (I have all of the most recent updates on my PS3 as I use it for Netflix as well as gaming and Bluray playback).

Can someone clarify that if I have a BD disc with 50gb size and I perform the clone BD on a 3D movie (ie The Avengers which I have a store bought copy), will this clone copy function identically to the original on any BluRay player with 3D playback capability?
I normally use my PS3 with recently updated software to play all of my 3D BluRays and have an Epson 3D projector.....

the clone option is only capable of ripping the movie from the original disc which i already did. i want to be able to copy a 3D blu ray and compress it so it fits onto a 25GB blu ray. the clone option doesn't provide that capability.

other blu rays that i have backed up i watch in my blu ray player. i don't watch them on my computer that often. and i don't have the equipment on my computer to watch 3D blu rays. i do have a video card that is capable of 3D but i don't have 3D glasses or a 3D monitor. so i use my .

It should work just fine. Cloning will copy the whole movie with menus.

so what you're saying is that i can use clone to copy an entire 3D blu ray including menus, extras and the 3D itself too?

i have tried this a few times and every time it didn't copy the 3D. it copied it as if it were a regular non-3D blu ray.

u can clone but that way u lose menus, extras, etc. and that isn't a full backup.

50gb Media is expensive, the cheapest I have seen is on Ebay and the media is being shipped from Japan (the more you buy, the cheaper it works out) the average cost on their for say 10 discs works out around £4 per disc (including delivery) but you can get them as low as £2.30 per disc if you order enough of them.

I doubt that the price of 50gb media is going to come down anytime soon, there are not enough `Users` out there to support a drop in price, but now that 3D has started to take off then things might change sometime next year.

I found that restricting burn sppeds to 2x regardless of what the disc speed is generally results in success.

It really depends on your player. Research the specs.

Also, MKV is a far better container to be looking at.

how do you have many 3d blu-ray copies on a 25gb disc may i ask???? almost everyone is over 25gb and as of today you can only clone a 3d blu-ray so how do you get your 3d movies using clone mode onto a 25gb disc???

I only have 2 3D movies rt now but I like to use the copies to play so I dont risk damage to the originals

there is a subfolder in the BDMV/Stream folder named SSIF and a few ssif files in there. i have been trying to back up Saw 7 3D and there are two files in there each around 15GB in size. these are the 3D streams. there are two smaller ssif files also but not sure what those are exactly. but when i tried to back it up it copied everything except that folder and files.

as yet i haven't been able to find any software that can successfully copy an entire 3D blu ray including menu, extras and everything else.

so u have successfully backed up a 3D blu ray with the menus, extras and everything intact as well as the 3D?

when I messed with my Avatar 3D disc I did the entire disc to 25gb but it looked horrible

i would assume any 47gb compressed to 25 will lose a ton of picture quality thats why I usually do the movie only but Ill mess with the avatar disc some more and see about main movie not full disc

or does a 3D disc have to be the whole disc? not sure if it uses more than 1 of the versions on there to make then 3D image
