    Hey guys,
I would be the first to suspect a problem on my end. From my perspective: all of a sudden 80% of the discs I ripped last year with DVDFab 8 are not readable??

I have other original footie, authored via Adobe Encore, burned to Verbatim BD that are still readable on these two players. Same discs.

I don't know what's going on. I am very grateful for all the suggestions. Testing BD issues is very time consuming & I spend 12 hrs/day earning a living. I will consider all suggestions & report back after some further testing.

    Thx

PS - Both players report discs are not readable. They take a very long time to report this, as the player tries multiple times to read the disc.

I am going to consult the worlds most famous detective on this matter.
    What do you say Holmes?

    You know my methods Watson!

    Then the games a foot...

Holmes-Was the firmware to the blu ray burner updated? was it checked to see if their were updates for it? Please check this first then try burning with another brand of disks.

Watson-Then you don't think it's Fabs software why not.

Holmes-Because of the facts Watson here we have 2 different company's with two different blu ray players what are the chances of both company's coming out with new firmware updates that won't play Verbatim disks then there's another important fact their are 34 thousand members of the Fab forum and no one else is complaining plus the fact the two players are very common and in many households. My methods Watson use my Methods.
Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

Holmes-The games a foot tplowe use my methods.............\

Glenns-“Holmes and Watson are on a camping trip. In the middle of the night Holmes wakes up and gives Dr. Watson a nudge. "Watson" he says, "look up in the sky and tell me what you see."

"I see millions of stars, Holmes," says Watson.

"And what do you conclude from that, Watson?"

Watson thinks for a moment. "Well," he says, "astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meterologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I see that God is all-powerful, and we are small and insignficant. Uh, what does it tell you, Holmes?"

"Watson, you idiot! Someone has stolen our tent!”

I would think that if Panasonic and/or Samsung put out a firmware update to their players that renders burned BD-R media unreadable, the uproar on the internet would be something to behold. When you say these discs are unreadable, what message does the player display when you try? Does it begin to play at all? Does it throw a "bad disc" message of some sort?
I suggest you rip one of the problematic discs back to your computer, and try burning it again - maybe to a BD-RE media, so you can test.

Thanks for tips. Discs are very clean. I always upgrade firmware because streaming capabilities are often upgraded for Netflix, Amazon etc. I have always burned with ImgBurn on Verbatim printable blanks, and I thought the quality was very high, rarely any coasters. I will try ripping an original with ver. 9 tomorrow, and report back.

I am using firmware 136 on my Panasonic BMP-BD75 I never upgraded firmware because their are no upgrades and i checked just now.I pulled some blu rays from 2009 White out some from 2011 Tactical force,Cowboys and aliens,Rise of the planet of the apes they had to be made with version 8 as version 9 wasn't around then.

Doesn't this have more to do with the optical media used and not at all with the software? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like an issue the one thread about was talking about.

If you took a firmware update on your player and now they won't play on it while they still play on the computer, I'd say you're screwed! May be time to consider an alternative to playing discs.

These are discs that played fine last year on the standalone players, it is not an issue of a bad burn or bad disc. The ISO's play fine. The discs are in perfect condition. It is possible the disc could have gone bad through aging in 1 year but I doubt that. What I am saying is that all of a sudden 25 discs ripped last year with DVDFab 8 are unreadable. They all played fine at one point. And they play fine on PC. They are Verbatim discs. It seems obvious that a firmware update has rendered these discs unreadable.

I will have to burn new discs from the original ISO's to test, but I fear their is something else going on here.

I got DVDFab 9 activated for free. So I have vers. 9 running if it will help.

Can I take my discs that are readable & try re-ripping (with 9), then re-burning, or will that introduce some degradation of quality?

I do have the ISO's saved on about 1/2 of the discs.
