    Problems

I've been surfing the forums for the last few weeks and I cannot find a solution to my problem. I finally found someone else who has the same problem as me though so at least I can get misery with company now. The last three discs I've tried (500 Days of Summer, Red Cliff Internation Version Disc 1, and Star Trek) have all done exactly what Pal has said. The name of the disc pops up, its asks me for the proper region code, and then that stupid "Open Source" blue bar will continue to go on for eternity.

Some things I have tried that have NOT worked:
-Updated (more like reset because it was already updated) my drive. I have a GGW-H20L (Version Y05 I believe)
-Updated to any recent version of DVDFab (official, beta, you name it). I even went back to some old 5 and 6 versions.
    -Updated windows
-Turned off firewalls first than removed all of them in case it was causing problems.
-I've sent messages into DVDFab (and they responded promptly-thank you) but it doesn't seem like a solution is forthcoming. At first I thought it was possibly just brand new movies that didn't have keys in the server yet but then I tried and older movie like Days of Thunder and that still didn't work.
-DVDFab never tells me I have internet connection problems so I am assuming it can connect to the internet fine (as I said above, I killed all my firewalls and virus protection too).
*One odd note, I tried the new release (Bad Lieutenant with Nicolas Cage) and that worked without a hitch. However, being the info searcher I am, I found people on the forums who had burned Star Trek and 500 Days of Summer perfectly, which means something is wrong with my computer and the software.

Seriously, if anyone can help me fix this problem, I would be so incredibly grateful. DVDFab had been working flawlessly until I tried Red Cliff, which crashed my system (I was retarded and didn't write down the error code) and it has been off ever since. It has the sweet record of 1 out of the last four discs.

My system: AMD Athalon Dual Core 5050e ATI 3200 Radeon HD, 2.6 GHZ, 3 GB RAM, Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

-All discs I have tried to burn are Region A, US retail. THANK YOU for any help anyone can throw my way!

can you do me a favor, go to settings, disable PathPlayer, restart DVDFab and try again. Please let us know if that will make any difference.

      Thanks for the Quick Reply

Sorry guys. I appreciate how fast someone got back to me. I should have mentioned that I tried to disable Pathplayer too. I also tried the whole "ignore read errors" trick and I messed around with the file system (there is that UDF Parser option and the Windows Files System option). I really don't understand what is going on. It was working great and now it is a complete failure. I also tried to use CC Cleaner and System restore to get everything back to when it worked to no success. I've tested my drive in a few ways to make sure it wasn't a hardware failure. I know somewhere there must be a conflict, I just don't know how to go about finding it and fixing it. I also just tried to use the Passkey beta and it said it "broke" the disc fine but all I get is a black screen when it tries to play. I don't know if this helps but Passkey said the drive had no region selected, which makes no sense because my device manager states that it is in Region 1. I am completely stumped.

        Tried It

        Hey Ipopov,
Did all your steps and it still won't work. It plays bluray movies, burns them fine, and rips CDs and DVDs, but it won't put the bluray on to the hard drive. Any other ideas? Thanks a lot!

Do you have any of the log files The default location is:
            C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log.
Also how much free space is on your hard drive
Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

Wait a minute. Are you saying that movies that DVDFab can't open - just hanging on them, you can play without problem. Tell me, what software are you using to play them. Do you have Passkey installed and running on a background?

                Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the help still! Bear with me as far as pasting the log goes. I hope you guys can find something in all the numbers below because I am admittedly stupid when it comes to computer code. My hard drive has 200 GB out of 698 GB left on it. Also, sorry IPopov, I was a bit too general. My player still plays older blurays and HD DVDs fine by itself. I'm using PowerDVD 7.3 so I can watch my HD DVDs still. The newer discs like Star Trek definitely won't play without burning them to the hard drive first (which is why I got DVDFab actually). When I used Passkey, I had it running in the background while PowerDVD attempted to play Star Trek. It went through all the trailers and eventually got to the movie but everything was a black screen with no sound (I could tell it was trailers and stuff by the minutes involved). Older discs like Rocky and AVP2 still burn to the hard drive fine and playback without fail after I use DVDFab. Are the keys to the movies I am attempting to put on my hard drive just not in the DVDFab servers yet? Thanks a bunch for your help!

Ipopov50 may be right as far as passkey. I have had issues before like this. Sometimes when you load the movie into the drive the players that you use will access them as well as when you load into dvdfab. I have both total media theater and powerdvd. They both try at the same time to open the bluray and they will both fail due to this. I have tried to back up blu ray with fab when I thought my media players were closed. Which resulted in some of the same issues. Sometimes due to software issue even though you may have close them out some of the process still hang onto the blu ray. Try opening you task manager when backing up. Look at all the processes running and if you see some of the same processes that run when your using your media players this may be your issue.

Another note i notice you about your firewall. You may have block dvdfab only one time and you firewall remembers it.(a issue i have had as well) Go into your firewall setting and find the dvdfab.exe permissions and put it to allow or auto. It really all depends on what you use. I hope you issue become resolved soon.

                  Cheers!

Thats right Passkey can cause issues with DVDfab I had to uninstall it. I burned without issues before I installed it. I had burn issues after I installed so I uninstalled and I had good burns. So try what IPopov50 said.

That can only happen if you have both running at the same time.
Uninstalling Passkey is not needed as all you have to do is right click on the icon and close it before opening DVDFAB.

This has been mentioned many times.

                          Still Nothing

                          Hey Guys,
Thanks for the help still. I was trying to run DVDFab and Passkey at the same time only once to see if that would magically work. It did not. I think I am just going to assume that the discs I tried can't be opened yet. Perhaps I misread that others had opened Star Trek, 500 Days of Summer, and Red Cliff. I reinstalled everything last night after several CC Cleaner runs, disabled everything nonessential except DVDfab, had no firewalls running, and nothing happened. To make sure it could still do other discs, I popped in Rocky and AVP2 and it ripped to the hard drive with no problem. Unless someone else can confirm that they got one or all of the discs to open that I listed above, I will eagerly await a new version that can crack the discs. Thanks for your support!
