    Read Error, can't rip "Daybreakers"

I'm new here and pretty new to this, so please forgive me if someone has already posted a solution to this problem.

I am using the free version 7.0 7.9. The dvd gets stuck in "Open DVD Source" for 10-15 min. then I get an error message "Error While Reading...choose what to do" or "Not responding" and DVD Shrink "Not Responding"

I purchased the movie "Daybreakers" a few days ago and this is the only movie I've had trouble ripping out of nearly 100.

I like to backup my movies, because my children are careless & ruin my discs.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Daybreakers is not a problem for Fab and it seems you have either a dirty / scratched or defective source disc.

Check for scratches and clean it.

If that fails download nero cd/dvd speed and scan the orginal for errors.

Nero CD/DVD Speed is a freeware software for benchmarking your CD-R and DVDR drives

Thank you for the feedback! I'm new to forums, I was unaware I "hijacked" anything. My grandson pointed out I needed to start a new "thread".

Thank you again for the help.

Something is wrong with your burn logs as it says you are using version 7.0.3.0 so you might want to do a reinstall of DVDFab and try again. Also the free version lags 30 to 60 days behind the paid version for copy protection updates as well. The paid version works just fine with DayBreakers

            Daybreakers Reading Error

I just tried backing up my copy of "Daybreakers" only to encounter the same reading error members were getting approximately two months ago. The difference is that I am up to date (paid version 8.0.2.2.). Has anyone been able to figure this reading error problem out - and, yes, I made sure to clean the disc, etc...

Are you refering to this Daybreakers movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433362/?
If so I backed up that movie about a month ago just fine. I can't remember if I used ver. 8.0.0.5 or 7.0.9.3. Though it might have been even an older version (the free version), opening the backup with PgcEdit displays, "DAYBREAKERS (Fab7062)" as the DVD provider ID, though I think that must be a mistake I don't see how it could have been ver 7062 as I ripped it on Sep. 6th and had to download DVDFab on that PC. Unfortuatly I don't have access to those rip logs any longer as I did it on a friends PC.
I know this info doesn't really help you much but I just wanted to let you know it can be done. I don't recall it getting stuck or anything while opening the disc but it was awhile ago. Maybe try disabling pathplayer and see if that helps any? Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Best of luck.

If you had to download to the PC and was using the 30 day free trial then that why you could do movie as the 30 day trials can do all the movies the paid version can. Once that trial runs out then it reverts to the free version which is limited

Using 8022 paid, I had no problem with the new day breakers movie.

I too am having problems with "Daybreakers" using 8.0.2.2 paid. It chokes while doing the "Open DVD" step and locks up; I have to manually end the process.

                    I'm using Windows XP SP2.

I happened to still have version 7.0.8.2 paid on my system and tried using it and had no problems at all!

Try using a version besides 8.0.2.2.

                      Hi Harpmaker,

Please upgrade to the latest version of DVDFab 8.0.3.2 at . And make sure that you have "Always Enable PathPlayer (Default)" box checked, if you still encounter the read errors, please choose "ignore" to skip them.
